Pacific Place

Lovers of designer labels and gourmet food will enjoy this four-story arcade, which is one of the city’s hottest luxury shopping spots.

Pacific Place is a complex in the Admiralty district with offices and high-end hotels. It also houses plenty of shops and boutiques. Here you can visit the Hong Kong Harvey Nichols department store, marvel at the impressive cinema and enjoy a range of dining options, from humble cafés to high-end cuisine.

The complex first opened in 1988, and then in 2007 underwent extensive renovations, led by English designer Thomas Heatherwick, who favored the warmer and softer design you see today.

More than 130 high-end shops and boutiques are located on the first three floors of Pacific Place. Those looking for quality apparel and accessories won’t be disappointed, with all major European brands represented here. In addition to fashion and cosmetics, there are several outlets for electronics and sports equipment.

The ground floor is a playground for foodies, dominated by the Great Food Hall gourmet food store, where you can enjoy regional treats, as well as meat, cheese and pastry specialties from all over the world. The ground floor also offers several cafés and restaurants.

Lovers of fine dining will want to visit the three five-star hotels within the complex, all of which offer several up-scale restaurants. Head to Nicholini’s in the Conrad Hong Kong for some of the best Italian food outside of Italy. This restaurant was named the Best Overseas Italian Restaurant several times by former Italian president Massimo D'Alema. It has been named Hong Kong’s Best Restaurant 19 years in a row.

Finish the night with a movie at the AMC, one of Hong Kong’s premium movie theaters. The six movie salons are fitted with stadium-style seats 4 feet (1.2 meters) wide, made of French leather for maximum comfort. Don’t settle for popcorn and cola the cinema’s Aqua Bar offers a wide selection of gourmet canapés to go with the fine wine or imported beer of choice.

Pacific Place is located at 88 Queensway, directly linked to the Admiralty station of the MTR. Find even more restaurants and shopping in the nearby Starstreet precinct.
