Rooms smell like smoke and Beds are super uncomfortable

Please keep in mind the location and the price, but this is the best place I've stayed in a long time. I'm so tired of triple priced places that aren't half as maintained as this. It's not in a great area, but I haven't lived here for a few years. The checkin was smooth and the staff is the friendliest and most professional I've dealt with in several years. It was a great way to end a very long and exhausting day. I haven't checked the pool or tried the breakfast yet, but I'm impressed with everything else. Best for the price range - hands down.

The check-in staff was very kind. I didn't get her name. The room was out dated and I wish I had a bathtub not a shower. The room was very clean. The a/c made this loud noise that would come and go. it was so loud it would wake me up all hours of the night. it did keep the room cool though. The breakfast was good and warm. The thing that made this hotel a 1 star was the hidden charge. So few days after I notice a $10.00 charge from the hotel. I called the hotel and told the staff I notice a charge. The woman that answered the phone without asking for my information (which makes me think I am not the first person who called about this!) told me that any customers that book through third parties like Expedia, hotel.com and others will be charge a fee by the hotel. I asked her if that is the case what is the point to book through them? they are supposed to be cheaper to do so. She then explained that Expedia lets their customers know about the fee. I explained that I read everything before agreeing and there is nothing that saids that. she replied "will that's what my manger told me" I told her I will call Expedia and I did. When talking to customer services he looked and saw there is nothing said about having to pay an extra charged to book through Expedia. Expedia put me on hold and called the hotel. The hotel agreed to pay me back. Expedia also said he was going to talk to his manger because this needs to be investigate.

The air conditioning appeared to not be working in the lobby and 1st floor hallways - fans were in use. The 2nd floor smelt of pot smoking. The noise coming from the interstate was annoying. However, the breakfast was delicious and well stocked/worked. Even though it was full of guests and almost no parking left- the guests were quiet and courteous.

Check in with easy and staff was great. Only thing, there was a smell of stale cigarettes in our room. The room itself was very clean and it’s possibly just a lingering smell from years prior when smoking was allowed.
