The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't curbed our lust for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to navigate the new challenges of traveling:

• Before committing to anything, check if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by reviewing official government websites.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Rather, you should position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed for screening.
• Remove items from your pocket, such as your keys, phone and wallet, and place them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to handle and inspect your belongings.
