"Our family of four had an amazing time at the observatory despite not being able to view the volcano. The dinner at the restaurant was amazing and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Edward, our guide for the nature tour was excellent. It was raining very hard during our tour but he took his time attempting to find monkeys for us and was successful! We saw both howler and spider monkeys on the walk. My family had a lake view room. We were further away from the restaurant and reception. My only suggestion would be to have umbrellas for the guests or a shuttle available when it is raining heavily."

"Pros: the grounds are really lovely and the pool area is really nice. The male staff were all very cheerful and pleasant whereas the female staff were almost all somewhat scowling and unfriendly. I can’t figure out what that’s about but we all noticed the same. Cons: the food offered at the restaurant is mediocre, limited, and overpriced for what it is, even considering how all food in La Fortuna and in Costa Rica in general is surprisingly expensive. The dinning area while not unattractive, is not particularly attractive. The rooms, while large, leave much to be desired as well with no hooks etc to hang wet towels, a minuscule closet and no other options to store or organize clothes and other things. A bit of of common sense and better management could improve all of the above."
