Our stay at the Cridford Inn was absolutely fantastic. From the room, the staff, the restaurant (we tried the medieval recipes and they were great), the bar and the fabulous breakfast. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. The area offers a vast number of walks on the beautiful Moor.
What an amazing find, beautiful old pub with rooms, the food is top level, chef is very very good, young lady that worked the bar and waited on tables was brilliant very knowledgeable on all aspects the the pub, pleasure to talk to her, well worth a visit if you a nearby
One night work stay, great check in , free bottle of wine due to Expedia!
Clean comfortable room, excellent evening meal with fantastic service
Beautiful country inn
I would highly recommend the inns directions not your sat nav as I did encounter many narrow lanes to arrive
Would definitely return when in the area again
Nice Inn reached by narrow lanes. Care needed! Good good and drink. Breakfast from 0830 onwards was very tasty and of good quality. Would revisit. Too far to reach Exeter for an 0900 meeting... So if Woking book you meeting a bit later as it is worth the extra drive to this place

Overall a very satisfactory experience. Excellent food- friendly and helpful staff. Room fine and very clean but very inadequte shower was a disappointment as was non functioning electric towel rail in bathroom. Very nice to see the bar being used and obviously enjoyed by local people.

This is an old hotel which is part of its charm however my room needed a bit of attention i thought to make it more welcoming. Food was good. Garden area at front looked very unkept and not like the photos
The Innkeepers at Cridford are so thoughtful and helpful! We had a problem with our rental car and they were able to quickly help us find a local company to handle the issue. But the historic property itself is also a gem! It's a picture-perfect, charming inn. We stayed in the family room which was very spacious for a couple and child. Dinner at the pub downstairs was delicious and then just a few steps to the room.
Lovely old thatched pub full of character in a gorgeous location
Staff excellent and professional.
Good breakfast
Only hiccup dinner we waited far too long and ended up leaving after starter .so did another couple but next morning received full apology from proprietor. Obviously something had occurred as all reviews usually excellent. Very impressed with customer service and woukd love to revisit
The room was stone cold when I checked in, the radiator was not on and I couldn’t turn it on. The stone floor was not heated so overall it was a very uncomfortable night. When I explained this to the landlady she explained how lovely and warm they were but they turn off the heating to the rooms at 10pm. She was rude and unhelpful. I was asked to nominate a time and breakfast order for the following day when I checked in, but the earliest they could offer was 08:30. The breakfast was good, but I would rather choose on the day and eat earlier.

As a pub/hotel it was OK. The food was average. The food service was slow. The staff are lovely but there are too few of them. Dogs in the restaurant, a ridiculous mistake on my order and an extremely noisy couple with little kids with no thought to other diners pretty much ruined my evening. I was glad to only be staying one night. I left at the crack of 8 a.m. and so couldn't have breakfast because they had no chef. I wasn't even offered an alternative. I won't be going back and if I read the signs ... reduced staff, using the cheapest products, inability to service customers properly I imagine there will be a big change in the near future.

The Cridford Inn is a wonderful, very old, country inn with a thatched roof, flagstones, dark oak everywhere....dripping with character. It's a little off the beaten track but worth the effort. Unfortunately we hadn't reserved a table for dinner so had to be squeezed in at the end of evening service, but the food was excellent and worth the wait. The same applied to breakfast....we hadn't booked a breakfast slot and so were put at the back of the queue. We must have missed something that told us we had to book a breakfast timing before arrival....we'll know next time. Our large and atmospheric room was chilly because the weather happened to be awful and it took quite a while for the heating to be able to work, which made the room less appealing than it might otherwise have been. These are minor irritations.....on the plus side, the owners and their team (rushed off their feet because the place is obviously popular) couldn't have been friendlier. Food was very good, the (Jail Ale) beer of top quality and, joy of joys, there's EV charging on site (a real bonus considering that the Cridford is fairly remote). On a warm summer's evening, alerted to the fact that we needed to reserve a breakfast time and having also thought to have reserved a time for dinner, this would have been a blissful stay; little niggles like the heating, not being able to have breakfast when we wanted and a few imperfections in room cleaning took the shine off a little, but we would definitely book again.
We had a nice one night stay at the Cridford Inn. It is just seeped with history, but was also comfortable for modern travel. We had 3 people in one room with plenty of space and a modern bathroom with decent shower. It is a bit of a scary one lane road to get there, but that adds to the charm, and they have a lovely pub so you can reward yourself appropriately. I would definitely return!
We were delighted with our stay at this lovely thatched pub. The Inn is one of the oldest in Devon and had so much character as well as being very very comfortable. Our standard double was better than most other hotels superior rooms! It was large with oakbeamed ceilings. Our bathroom was very modern with a new bath and overhead shower. Everything was very clean and tidy.
We had a really delicious dinner in their wonderful character dinning room. Breakfast was also good and very generous.
The staff were all friendly and efficient and handled all the corona virus conditions very efficiently so we felt safe
The couple running the hotel are new and have a lot to learn. They don't know their wine list or have much clue about wines in general. Tea bags in the room were not replenished. Lots of details were lacking. As somebody who has stayed in many hotels in the UK and internationally I felt they hadn't stayed in many hotels themselves. Bar dinning area need to be warmer. The owners who were front of house need to smarten up the way they dress in the evening - gardening cloths don't give the right impression.
