"Overall it was a good hotel. The spa is quite pricey. The access to the beach or to the small town from the hotel requires a walk along a narrow uneven path with steep steps or you can walk along the roadside but there is only a pavement for about half of the journey so you end up walking in the road, which is narrow and has blind spots. As it is not fully accessible to everyone you would need to bare this in mind. You could drive to the beach & restaurants but from what are saw there is not a lot of parking. It would be nice if the hotel ran a shuttle service to the beach. The hotel itself could do with some rejuvenation on the outside and having the windows cleaned on the inside and outside of the rooms would be a good idea. The Wild Cafe is great for all meals and has a wider menu than the Ogo restaurant and provides better value for money. It would be great if they could create a section in The Wild Cafe that is adults only as listening to screaming children is in no way relaxing. The cocktail bar is nice and if you get a spot on the terrace in the evening you get great views. It would be better if there was a bar by the pool, even if only for peak season. This would save you having to go up and down steep steps. The pools are good, the smaller one is heated. The sun loungers are not very comfortable as they are in just 1 position so you can’t lay comfortably and read. I don’t think I would call this a four star hotel, definitely a solid 3 star."

"We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms, it was very well kept and comfortable, we were only there for one night, but would stay again. One thing is lack of parking, need to pre book as there are limited spaces, but the train station is less than a 2 min walk away, so for us it wasn’t a problem as we parked there instead."

"This is my first choice when I'm working in cornwall, its perfect. From the location, the friendly staff, great food, a relaxed atmosphere, great accommodation with everything you need, electric charging is a bonus. As I said before perfect. Would highly recommend."

"Not as good customer service as normal with regards to checking in and sloppy attention to detail. Confirmed by phone and in app and booked a dog friendly room with two beds as travelling with a friend. When checking in discovered the family room I booked was relocated and we were given a double. Luckily a twin room was found. Other than that a nice stay."

"Had a great extended weekend stay at Porth lodge! In a great location with the beach just a short walk away and Newquay within walking distance it's perfectly tucked away. The staff were very lovely and helpful and the breakfast made to order everything was a highlight. Would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and homely stay"
