Like the security for the rooms, the facilities and being able to put an evening meal together rather than paying to eat out. Also as i currently work in Newark it's very handy for that. Not to be put off but it's also very handy for shopping, eating and drinking also both the train stations ate within walking distance with Castle Station closer than Northgate. No doubt i'll be sraying again soon.
31 Castle Gate gave us a very clean and comfortable 2 night stay . Private and quiet accommodation clear instruction re parking facilities. Easy access to shops, cafe and relaxing meal/ drink in the evening sat by the canal. Initial access wasn't granted by the code given but a very quickly answered call gave us access for the stay. Thank you to Daniel - very helpful and he also checked in with us to make sure access was ok . Would use the accommodation again .

Really nice building and on initial glance the room was great. Great size and lots of space with kitchenette too. Location great and parking round the corner was £3 for overnight so can’t complain at that!
I’d recommend the apartment overall but there were a couple of reasons that I would mark it down: grout in the bathroom was dirty, a dirty sock in the bed drawer, guests clothing in two drawers which they had left behind.

Can be better
It will be nice to have a small dining table and it will be handy if there’s a small cabinet or shelf next to the bath tub
A bit noisy too
The bunk bed doesn’t feel very stable

Shoulda got a Travelodge!!
Ok, the positives. We were in Magnus suite which was warm & spacious with a comfortable bed. The kitchen appliances were nice & looked fairly new. The building is very well located for the town and is opposite the Registry Office.
But
If you are arriving in the pouring rain & dark as we did at 4pm this place is very difficult to find, not sure even the locals know it's there! Black plaques on black doors are not easily read & we walked past it at first. There's no parking, which we were aware of and you are given suggestions where to park, one of which is free overnight. This is a pub and easily missed if you are in a flow of traffic. We eventually found a car park 5 minutes walk away & reasonable for 24 hours. We found we were able to get into the courtyard but not the suite! It's a press button pad and after several attempts we rang the help number, need to press the buttons lightly. Once in, soaked through, all we wanted was a cup of tea, no tea bags, Luckily we had taken 4 tea bags just in case, but could only have the 1 cup. Washed up the mugs, no drying up cloth, and the wash up liquid container was sticky &less than half full. Also a dirty serviette on the table. The bathroom is small there's a heated towel rail but the loo seat was a bit skewiff. The toiletries were well used! In the morning a shower, but shower gel container was empty! The plug thing wouldn't stay down in the sink, we found a pebble stuck in it.
Attention needs paying to the cleaning!
very central and great bathroom/ kitchen - could do a few days hear easy enough

Disliked: Staff & service
The property is not a hotel, it’s a building with a bunch of apartments or rooms with no staff. There is no parking and it’s challenging with any luggage. We ended up parking at the city lot 10 minutes walk away. We had major challenges getting Ubers as this is a small town and most Ubers we got we had to wait 20 minutes plus. The room itself was nice and clean and close to town. Overall I would not recommend to anyone who plans to drive there with luggage.
Terrible Experience. Arrived but could not get in as the codes would not work on the key pads into rooms. Rang to get new codes and the didn't work either. Finally managed to get into the room and it was a disgrace. Very clearly the room had not been serviced since the last guest. Bed was all over the place with furnishings and dirty towels thrown all over the floor. Toilet was full of urine and faeces, dirty towels thrown on the floor. After a long day work everything you do not want to turn up to. How this place has the rating it has is beyond me, I would avoid at all costs.
Lovely place to stay and very central to Newark town centre and the castle. We got an upgrade to one of the suites which was perfect as it had a microwave, kettle and toaster as well as a fridge. We were also provided with a high tech fan so we could keep cool in the heat wave! The bed was super comfy and everything was super clean. They even arranged a travel cot for us so our little boy had somewhere safe to sleep whilst we stayed there.
The room was nice but unfortunately cleanliness let it down. Hairs in the bed, and lipstick marks on glasses and cups.

Ok, but not again.
Bed was great for sex I absolutely smashed my girlfriend all over the room but sadly when I was having a shower, the handle fell off and also the door nob to the hallway/room was already broken off.
The radiator was on some weird timer. (Couldn’t find the thermostat) microwave and kettle were sound and also the plates and cutlery were also clean. There was also one corner piece of rubbish which wasn’t mine.
First we did not expect an unstaffed property. Second, the digital entry system did not work, so we were stuck trying to get hold of a building manager to get into our unit. It was a very very hot day and there is no air conditioning, sealed windows - they could be opened if repaired or paint scraped to open them. Cob webs on the windows, and you look out one of the windows to see barb wire for security I guess. No this is not what we expected. This is an air bnb operation - when we saw guest house, we expected a staffed operation. Shame on us.
The room was filthy, looked like it has been used and mattress were only tied up to make things seem alright.
Floor had earings and dirts from previous stays, drawers were misplaced like someone was in the room previously.
There is some “mysterious” wooden door in the bathroom which is locked and can’t be opened, which I couldn’t actually tell what was behind it, but it was pretty freaky.
In addition, kitchen unit looked dirty and dark with no light to be turned on(lamp was burnt).
After all that the room didn’t even have an inside lock while the way to enter was a passcode!!! (Anyone who recently stayed there could break in easily), felt really unsafe.
I didn’t stay there more than 10 mins and I had go searching for another place to stay in the middle of the night.(when I “checked in”)
Anyways, terrible, unpleasant experience
Lovely rooms but booked two and got one, staff tried to assist but we had already settled down to sleep as it was late in the next day. Only paid for one I the end.

Handy for town, large rooms and facilities. Not spotlessly clean but better than other places and nothing to worry about.
