I love Hampton Inn, but I would NEVER stay again in one in New York. It’s a very old building with many issues and I had a terrible check in experience.
We arrived at 7AM and left our bags at the hotel but then we came back at around 2PM and the staff didn’t let us check in (didn’t even ask for reservation number or anything) they just said check in was until 3PM. Which would have been okay if that’s the policy but in the following 15 minutes they checked in three other guests. Only after complaining to the manager we finally got a room.
When we got to our room, we found out our bathroom didn’t have cool water, all the water was boiling hot. They spend almost three hours to fix it. And it was kinda fixed, we had cool water but you needed to let it run for a while. Sometimes 2-3 minutes, some other times up to ten minutes until cool water came out. The bathroom extractor didn’t work so the door was swollen due to all the humidity.
So it was not a good experience overall. In a more positive note, the rest of the staff is generally nice and breakfast is very good as usual on all Hamptons.
