Rooms were spacious and stylish, but generally dirty (in desperate need of a deep clean). The bathroom and common-area hallways were especially grimy. The only window in my room looked out on a brick wall three to four feet away. Customer service was fine. The location and price were good in comparison to other options, but you get what you pay for. I would not plan to stay at this property again.

Our non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke and the smoke detectors in our room had been ripped out of the ceiling. The shower didn’t drain for about 10 minutes until you were out of the shower. Bartender was nice and our bed was comfortable but outside of that, we probably wouldn’t stay here again.

The property itself is very very nice. Parking is a bit trash because of the slowness of the valet service and there aren't other options for parking.

The staff was amazing. The room felt very much like being right at home. The record player was an amazing touch and we listened to every record they had in the room. We won’t stay anywhere else after this trip.

I needed a place to stay for one night and this was the spot!!! For one night, under $100. The place was clean, spacious and near the French Quarter. I wish I had stayed a couple more days!

Cool vibe like Ace/Virgin. Room cleanliness was rough especially bathroom. Mold in corners. Soap dispensers installed, one fell off wall and none ever had soap in them. New perhaps but not used? Bar only opens at 5pm.

The Mercantile is one of the best hotel experiences in Nola. Check in and valet process is simple. The hotel staff is friendly in perfect Nola style. The suite is spacious and quiet…no street or hallway noise! Comfortable beds, clean space. Couldn’t ask for better, especially for the price!

The building is cool. The staff is great. The location is great. My only issue is a big issue to me and that’s cleanliness. There were hairs in my blanket, crumbs and hair around my bed and under the mattress. The remote had something absolutely nasty on it, I used 2 face clothes to wipe it down it was black after that I got a bit wigged out. Again, great place, people etc but needs better cleaning standards.

The hotel is fine but the "valet" parking situation was atrocious. We arrived during a rain storm of deluge proportions. We parked on the street adjacent to the hotel and were told to leave the car there and someone would move it to a lot. No one offered or was available to unload our luggage and bags. Thus we were forced to unload the luggage and bags ourselves and walk to the hotel entrance, We arrived in the lobby totally drenched. At the prices the Mercantile charges (including $48 per night for parking) someone should (a) meet us at our car with a large umbrella, and (b) unload our luggage and deliver it to the lobby.

The cleaning of the room was terrible. Shifts set dirty.The air conditioner top nasty. The elevator nasty.Just the staff very nice but the breakfast one day has warm milk another they dont.For really expensive price I paid I dont recomend it.

Location was great for walking to different neighborhoods. Hotel was run down and poorly maintained. The gym was closed, one elevator out of two was broken, coffee machine in room broken and dirty, blow dryer in room broken, outlets in bathroom didn’t work and the lights were flickering on and off, and windows were filthy. Floor outside of our room had crumbs all over that were not vacuumed up once the entire 5 days we were there. Staff was moderately nice and helpful when we needed extra towels but otherwise did not have any interaction.

Architecture was very interesting... staff was great, when my traveling companion had to cancel, the front desk saw I had booked a double that I no longer needed and was upgraded to an executive suite...such a treat...will be staying here again

Nice staff but dirty facility. Change rooms and the second was still dirty as well. I don’t think it was a one off just because of the areas where the dirt was built up.
