Pentland
Very nice hotel, center of town, welcoming staff and the food was very good. Floors are a bit creaky due to buildings age. Thurso seems to be a stop for people going on to Orkney, but if i needed a base to see Caithness, i would stay at the Pentland. Single room reasonably priced.

House by the Harbour - Nc500 Route
Easy parking on the street in front. ( In October) Great view of the harbour and lovely sunrise. The house is lovely, very clean, fully equipped and spacious over 3 floors.
