This was a gift I gave to my son and his girlfriend: 2 nights stay at Fauna. My son said this was one of the best hotels he ever stayed in. Absolutely loved everything about it and can’t stop bragging how great his stay was. I thank the owner and staff for an amazing experience!

I like to see and support the preservation and adaptive reuse of older structures—it’s environmentally-friendly and preserves a view of the former cityscape. The Ciudad Vieja area is morphing and a little gritty but feels real, not sanitized for tourists. The architect has done his work on this small hotel and capped it off with an extremely helpful and personable (and multilingual) staff. Breakfast isn’t served in the hotel but there are many small shops along the pedestrian street on which the hotel is located.

This is a very clean and quiet small (10 rooms) hotel on the main walking street of the old city. Jerónimo and Soledad, the proprietors, are extremely friendly and helpful with making recommendations and reservations and go out of their way for their guests. Overall one of the best small hotel experiences that I have had. There is no restaurant or breakfast service but there are plenty of places nearby

The place is hidden from the street easy to walk past quiet but in a great location in La Ciudad Vieja. The owner is a fantastic person we were extremely comfortable there. Too many great places to eat

Fauna Hotel is a boutique hotel in the old town area of Montevideo- it exceeded our expectations for so many reasons. Jeronimo and Solidad were exceptional hosts, ensuring our stay was a great experience. The hotel is an absolutely beautifully restored building with attention to every detail - very thoughtfully and tastefully finished! We found ourselves looking around constantly to absorb and appreciate the real beauty of the building! Location is also fantastic within walking distance to the main sites and attractions. The city of Montevideo is fortunate to have people with the skills and passion of Jeronimo and Solidad to restore such historic buildings. Wishing we had a longer stay!

Lovely hotel in Montevideo’s old town
This hotel is lovely! The check-in was easy, the room was beautiful, and it had lots of nice amenities. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. The neighborhood had several places to eat within walking distance and the ocean is a block or so away.

Perfection
If perfection exists, it would be FAUNA. My stay was fantastic and Jero and Sero made sure that I not only enjoyed my stay at FAUNA, but in Montevideo. My room and the building were beautiful and extremely comfortable. I had a great night sleep each night of my three night stay. Jero provided so many incredible recommendations of places to eat and things to do without my even asking. They truly care that you have a wonderful time and I am so grateful. I can’t wait to stay at FAUNA again when I return to Montevideo.

Fauna is a lovely and whimsical boutique hotel in the heart of the old town of Montevideo. The hotel is tastefully decorated, welcoming, and very comfortable. The owners are extremely kind and provide a personal touch to the whole experience. This is definitely way better than staying at a regular big hotel chain. If you want a local experience, this is the play to stay! The rooms are unique and spotless, and the location is perfectly situated on the main walking street. Super close to the Port Market which is a great place to eat Uruguayan BBQ! Highly recommended overall!

Absolutely beautiful property and staff attention. I extended my stay and Jeronimo and Eduardo were both incredibly accommodating and kind throughout my stay. The hotel is decorated with so much love, care & attention and smells just as lovely with fresh flowers in the main area.

A truly boutique hotel experience
The FAUNA hotel is just lovely, and Jeronimo is positively amazing. He was full of great recommendations for cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby. In full disclosure, people should know that (a) the room we stayed in did not really get any natural light. There was an airshaft window only. That wasn't really a problem for us. More importantly (b) the hotel is currently on the edge of the rehabilitated part of the Ciudad Vieja. You can easily and safely get to and fro, even at night, on the busy streets. But if you walk a few blocks off of those, it definitely feels less safe.

FAUNA Montevideo was amazing. The hotel is small, but so charming. The rooms are very spacious with everything you need. Only downside is there is no breakfast, but they do offer free fruit and coffee that is available all the time. It is located right on the main pedestrian walkway with many restaurants and stores within blocks. The host is incredible--available 24/7 for any questions or needs. He also gave many restaurants and activity recommendations that were very good. I highly recommend staying here if you have the chance--best hotel I've stayed at my entire world trip!

The best!
Our short stay at Fauna was our most intimate during our stay in Uruguay. The owner Jeronimo and his wife are amazing. Even before our stay with them he was helping out with tips and things to do in the area and also after we left he gave me some amazing tips to do on our remainder of our journey. The rooms are very chic and have style. The decor is done with an eye for detail. The coffee machine in the lobby does free amazing coffees and he also provides a small alcohol trolley to help your self too. I will return to Montevideo in the future and will stay at Fauna for sure. Look no further stay at Fauna😉

Great location in the heart of old town within walking distance of many historical sights. The hotel is immaculate and loving attended to and maintained by the owner, Jerónimo, who is friendly and available to provide directions and suggestions. I’ve stayed at many properties over the years during many travels and this hotel is unique and not to be missed. A true and unforgettable jewel and a wonderful experience.

I had a wonderful stay at FAUNA Montevideo. The hosts were very helpful with check-in and check-out. They also had nice attention to details that made the stay even better such as water in the fridge, pleasant music in the lounge, drinks, and snacks. The decor of the hotel is great! The location was close to everything I wanted to see, so I could walk everywhere. Overall, great stay! Thanks!

Fantastic
What the owners did with the place is fantastic. Loved the retro feel. Place was spotless clean, wifi was good and hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Street is pedestrian and close to restaurants etc. Would definitely stay there again.

Fint hotell med bra läge
Jag och min kille bodde här i en natt. Bra läge i Ciudad Vieja med gångavstånd till restauranger etc. Fina rum och väldigt trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Det ingick ingen frukost men det fanns frukt och kaffe/te samt gratis minibar. Det enda som var negativt var att sängarna var hårda samt att det var lite lyhört.

But it surely is a matter of personal taste.Having said this, all of our second floor rooms have a different type of mattress which is much softer. Personally, i prefer the 'harder' ones on the first floor.We are happy you enjoyed your stay.Thank you

Charmoso e pitoresco
Meu marido e eu viemos de férias para o Uruguai em jan/20, com a ideia de comemorar meu aniversário e nosso aniversário de casamento. Entre visitar as tradicionais Punta del Este e Colônia do Sacramento, Montevidéu também fazia parte do nosso roteiro... e lá ficamos no FAUNA, um hotel bem localizado na cidade velha (central, ao lado do porto e da praia), lindo, sofisticado e ao mesmo tempo simples e extremamente bem decorado (tudo condizentes ao seu nome, FAUNA) pelo próprio proprietário que é arquiteto, o argentino Jero. E por falar em Jero, que pessoa atenciosa, solícita e educada... ele mesmo conduz o contato com os hóspedes (sempre à disposição por telefone e WhatsApp) e fez do hotel “a nossa própria casa”. Sem dúvida ficaria aqui numa próxima vez e recomendaria para qualquer um que me pedisse indicações. Obrigada FAUNA e Jero!

Tolle Unterkunft mit nettem Gastgeber
Wir waren für eine Nacht in Montevideo in dieser Unterkunft. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und konnten unsere Rucksäcke deponieren, da wir zu früh angekommen sind. Als wir für den Zimmerbezug zurückkamen, hat uns der Gastgeber bereits die Rucksäcke im Zimmer deponiert. Da wir unsere Reise eher spontan gestalten, haben wir von Jernimo neben den tollen Tipps in der Stadt auch noch tolle Reisetipps für Argentinien erhalten. Die Zimmer sind hübsch eingerichtet und das Badezimmer ist sehr komfortabel. Die Lage inmitten der Altstadt ist ebenfalls top! Übrigens gibt es sehr guten Kaffee, welcher inklusive angeboten wird. Sehr empfehlenswert.
