Traditional Spanish finca
El Horcajo is situated at the end of a long windy private road, which means that while you are there, you feel like you are far from it all. In reality, the location is very convenient if you want to visit Ronda and some of the Pueblos Blancos such as Grazalema. We arrived after driving through a huge thunderstorm and were relieved to be greeted by the friendly staff, who gave us lots of information about the area (including walks directly from the hotel) as well as about the dining option at the hotel. Our room and bathroom were large with nice views of the countryside. The furniture is simple and traditional, fitting well with the countryside setting. The beds were very comfortable. Dinner at the hotel was simple with a choice of salad or soup to start, a meat or a fish main, with fruit or crème caramel for dessert. It's a shame that the weather wasn't good enough for us to try the swimming pool (which looked very inviting).

Rustic Getaway Close to Ronda
Spent two nights here. Hotel is nestled in a beautiful mountain valley about 10 miles from Ronda, Spain. Sheep roam the nearby hills. All kinds of birds on the property and they greet you with lots of sounds in the morning. Wonderful dinners served on premise. Skimpy breakfasts. Delightful pool. Rustic setting. Old style architecture with wood and adobe. Very nice change of pace from city hotels.

In the middle of nowhere
One of the worst hotels I have ever staying at - so bad I left after only one night, very shabby, 16 miles from Ronda town centre (not the few K that they say) I could hear very single noise from the next door room, which when they run a bath reached 69 Db's. The driveway from the main road is 3 Km of rough twisty badly maintained road - 1st gear & lots of concentration to to drive in & out.
Hotel its its own valley

No horses here :(
The staff were very friendly. The rooms were really different - very cool place to stay. Lots of space in the room with steps leading upstairs to the 2 single beds. I was very disappointed in the fact that there were no horses there. This was one of the main reasons for booking our stay. There is local horse riding available but no actual horses on site which is deceiving with the photo advertised of the hotel. This would be my only complaint.
