A Deeply Disappointing Stay – Far From 5-Star
I stayed at Fairmont Monte Carlo for 14 nights, expecting comfort and service. Instead, it was one of my most frustrating hotel stays. At check-in, staff claimed I booked a different room and refused to check my confirmation. Only after repeated pushback did they correct it.
The bellboy said breakfast was included for all 14 days. Later, I was told it wasn’t and would cost €70 per person/day. When I raised this, I was met with excuses and even laughed at by front desk staff. No accountability.
Service was cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. I never once felt welcomed or respected. I chose not to spend anything at the hotel’s restaurants or bars, including Nobu and Amoo—they didn’t earn my business.
Housekeeping was unacceptable. Used shower caps were taken from the trash and placed back in the shower. Essentials like body wash, tissues, and slippers were often missing.
What upset me most wasn’t one incident—it was the consistent negligence and lack of care over two weeks. No one ever followed up or took ownership.
The “5-star” title may suit the building, but not the experience. Look elsewhere if you expect real hospitality.
