I keep coming to this place almost every six months and stay one or two weeks. In the last year some repairs were made and the place looks better. It is a good value for the money!

Authentic Swahili experience.
What's there to say about a hotel started in 1972? If you're looking for modern amenities, you won't find it here. If you're looking for a time capsule of Swahili culture, you will find it here. Rooms have AC, a 3 pools were excellent, ocean view was excellent as well. Breakfast was authentically Swahili with really good mahamris.
Reef Hotel is a fantastic place to stay—truly a super hotel in a stunning location. It’s set right on the ocean, with its own deck chairs in the resort with a small path down to the public beach, making it perfect for relaxing by the water.
Our room was excellent—spacious, well-equipped, and everything worked perfectly. We had constant hot water, a working fridge and safe, excellent air conditioning, and a lovely balcony to enjoy the view. The hotel also felt very sustainable and blended beautifully into the local surroundings.
One of the standout features was the variety of eating and drinking options—two restaurants, several bars, and even a club, offering something for every mood and time of day. We also felt very safe during our stay; security was clearly a priority, with a guard even watching over guests' belongings while swimming.
The only downside was a lack of communication and coordination between different parts of the hotel, which led to a few minor inconveniences. However, this didn’t take away from what was otherwise a really enjoyable and memorable stay.
After doing a 2 week long mission trip in Kenya, my partner and I ventured to Reef Hotel to enjoy R and R on the beach. Overall great value and enjoyable experience!
I come here very often for 1-2 weeks each time. There were some repairs and paint jobs done lately, so that the place looks better. The food is OK, the A/C still works, the pool is clean...
Totally decadent, rooms are extremely noisy, slamming the doors all night through because the doors can close easily, total nightmare at night if you care of resting.
Decadent room with a shower not even working properly.

Great hotel. Beautiful views of the beach, a nice pool, excellent food and drinks, and helpful staff. I needed to shower after checking out and going diving, and they accommodated my need while also watching my bags. Great service!

1.Like....the external environment was good.
2.The rooms needs retouch. They are currently in bad state.
Nothing in the bathroom work.I had to become a plumber in order to us the bathroom.
The food was overpriced The bedroom was very uncomfortable for me get a goodnights rest. Everything in the room was very old and out of date. Even the TV refuses to respond.
Photo of the property needs to be updated because everything is old. Also the room’s toilet has bad odor coming from the sink. Break fast lack variety and cleanliness . Terrible experience!!!

I am a repeat customer that stayed here for weeks at the time. It is not too bad. The rooms need a lot. The entire place need a renovation. The landscape is poorly maintained. The water in the pool smells like birds feathers. The food is good. Compared to similar places is even better. The all inclusive is a joke. While bottled beer and some bottle sodas are included, bottled water is not. I just don't get it! Maybe I am not too smart! At the restaurant they charge you for the free bottle water they put in the rooms unless they serve it by the glass (and the glasses do not look too clean, I doubt that the hotel has a commercial steam dishwasher). The good news is that you can buy good bottled water (Keringet) from the gift shop. The bottled water they put in rooms (Aquelle) does not taste good. The people are nice yet they are properly trained how to explain all inclusive customers why bottled water is not included but bottled sodas are!

Run down and too many non residents who pay a small entrance fee to use the facilities while residents who pay much more have no privacy....take care there are thieves working in this hotel also seperately reported by other on line reviewers.

Gòod view of ocean, very good gardens and friendly staffing team
I paid in full upon arrival. However upon checking out they demanded a furyher 2000 KES because the dollar / KES rate had changed.
I'm sure if it had moved the other way, they would offer me a small refund.
I refused to pay but did when it became apparent that the cashier would have the diffetence deducted from his salary.
The garden and pool are is fabulous, as are the staff.
The rooms are tired though and not really worth the money. The AC is ineffective.
I would not stay here again though purely because of the odious practice I've described above.
