Accommodation amazing, bed a bit too soft for me but that’s a personal preference, had only room with roll top bath and walk in shower, fabulous. Had evening meal and breakfast and the food was beautiful, will deffo return 5star

The whole experience was great! Susie, Addy and all their staff made us feel very welcome. The food was great, we had a family meal here on one of the nights. The breakfast was huge and kept us going all day! Will definitely return when we’re next up visiting family.

Brilliant staff

Our stay was extremely pleasant. The road noise was really loud when the windows were open, which they had to be as the room was very warm.The breakfast was delicious. Susanna was an excellent host and worked very hard and was always pleasant and helpful.

I stayed at the Tavern for one night Monday 6/10/25 prior to attending a funeral. I had read previous reviews criticising road noise. Whilst it was heard,I didn’t find it an issue at all. Had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed. Superb bathroom- i loved the large soaker tub- hard to find a room with bath these days. Staff were very friendly and food was hot and tasty with portions on the large side! Would definitely stay here again.

Yum food and good accommodation

I would stay here for business again. Our room appeared to be freshly decorated and the bathroom with shower kitted out to a high standard. We ate in their restaurant and the food was very yummy- do try the pie and steak both seriously good. They only start serving breakfast at 9am which was too late for us so they actually came in early for us and we had a great full English breakfast beautifully cooked bacon and sausages excellent. The Hungarian lady who we checked in with, saw at dinner and breakfast what a hard working and polite person.
2 medallions of steak with peppercorn sauce- cooked to perfection
truly amazing steak and ale pie made by the chef!!
Prawn Pil Pil Juicy and with a good hint of chilli
Mushrooms in a cream sauce on ciabatta very moorish

Great food

We used a number of hotels on our trip, and this one had the best breakfast of them all. The hotel and rooms are nice, the staff are great and it's very dog friendly. We look forward to staying again some time.

We arrived 4-pm 13/8/25 for our 1 night stay on route to a funeral the following day, we got a drink, then hubby went to get another and the barman had walked out so no more drinks till another member of staff arrived over an hour later,

Amazing stay. We stayed in room 4. The bathroom was fab especially the bath. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast and lunch, both were lovely. The staff were so nice. Lots of lovely nice walks nearby. Highly recommend and I hope we can stay again

Cosy country Inn

Lovely historic Inn dating back to early 1800’s, tastefully decorated to bring it a more modern style whilst keeping loads of traditional feature. Dog friendly. Lovely evening meal.
