"The rooms were clean, the staff were very nice, however the whole hotel needs a remodel. The carpets in rooms were very old. Breakfast was ok. "

"To be fair the room was reasonably clean, however due to the poor decor, it felt like the room was less clean than it probably was. The staff were not there on arrival, and we were unable to book in using the electronic booking in system, and we had to wait for the receptionist to return in order to do so. The receptionst claimed that this was because we only reserved the room an hour ago. However, a gentleman who reserved his room 3 days before had the same issue. We were charged £2.50 for parking. I felt that this was unexceptable as the hotel owned the car park area. Totally unacceptable. The bedding, in my opinion, was a little tired, and grubby. "

"Hotel isn’t in the most central of areas and no real restaurants too close but it is clean, breakfast was good and staff friendly "

"I’ve stayed at The Essex Golf & Country Club several times before and have always had a pleasant experience, which is why this visit was so disappointing. Unfortunately, the room did not meet the usual standards I’ve come to expect. The bed hadn’t been made properly, which immediately gave a poor first impression, and the bath drain was extremely slow, making it frustrating to use. It’s a shame because I’ve enjoyed my previous stays here, but this time the lack of attention to detail really let things down. I hope this was just a one-off, as I would like to return in the future, but improvements definitely need to be made to maintain the quality guests expect"

"Good free parking. Excellent breakfast good choice and nice and hot. Air conditioning and heating not working in room an electric heater provided but I was not informed of this by hotel staff. The room was clean and serviced daily. "
