Great Northern was in the ideal location for our vacation stay, and has enjoyed a reputation as a good place to stay that's not too terribly expensive. It was the first and really only place we considered, given these qualities.
Upon arriving we discovered that the facility is a little careworn in spots, with a window screen in our room that wasn't attached properly, some painting needed inside and out, and another guest who reported finding what they thought was dried dog vomit on the carpet (and didn't want that to be blamed on their dog). There weren't many outlets in our room (compared to the number of devices we and the kids needed to charge), the mattresses were overly firm and showing their age, and having only a hot tub and no pool or readily visible access to the lake in back was a bit of a letdown.
All that being said, it was a nice home for a few days. We barely heard anyone in neighboring rooms, nor even the bar/restaurant downstairs and down the hall from our room. Parking was quick and easy, the bedding was clean, and the shower water warmed up instantly. Although we didn't need them, there were other amenities that cater to motorsports enthusiasts and pet lovers alike.
