Wonderful room

This hotel was a gem. It was quiet, comfortable, and convenient. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room had a view of the Reichenbach Falls, which were lit up at night. The bed was a little hard for me but right for my wife…matter of preference. The breakfast was free and quite filling—boiled eggs, assorted breads, jams, cold cuts, cheese, juices, and coffees. It was about 6 minute walk to the train station and a multitude of restaurants. If we come back to Meiringen, this is where we are staying!

The theme of Sherlock Holmes. Clearly the new owners don't even understand/ care about Sherlock Holmes. The rooms were average. With nice views. Very hot no AC. Booked renting an apartment but told we can't eat in the room, though there's a table and chairs in the room. Breakfast was 7-9 though when booking was to 10:30. The hrs that are posted for front desk changed daily, most often no one there. The phone in room was plugged in but no dial tone. Couldn't call front desk. Was told what table we could and couldn't eat at breakfast. Tried the restaurant for dinner and had to leave. Was ignored other than to have them tell us both tables we sat at were reserved. But no sign said that. Then sat at other table and was ignored. For 15 min no one even looked at us. So left. Sad, as it has potential.

Staff are super welcoming and friendly, our room was clean and spacious! The balcony view was stunning! Would love to stay here again if I visit the alps ! Highly recommended!

We specifically booked this hotel as the property advertised Laundry (that the guests can use). We were greatly disappointed as the was the one stop that we paid slightly more than our budget and went slightly out of way just for the laundry. It was also the only night we had booked for laundry during our whole trip and we could only bring a backpack. The hotel was also a little weird in that the hall lights on the different floors went off overnight. We had to get up early to catch a train and went out our door and everything was dark. We had to use our phone flashlights. Overall, it was okay.

The guest card was not provided. The breakfast was OK, but below the standard of most Swiss hotels. Tiny kettle in room, but no cups or teabags. When we asked for these,the request was ignored.

Everything was great with the hotel... except AVOID the restaurant. The food was fine, but it was 2x the price it should have been. For $30 swiss francs, I got a plate of mostly rice with a little chicken tikka on top. I also had to pay extra for naan which was not fresh. We were the only people in there and there no chance they made everything we ordered from scratch based on how fast it came.

Das Hotel ist seinen Preis nicht wert! Alles Ausländer, alles nicht dem Standart entsprechend. Frühstück: bescheiden, das Gebäck nicht frisch. Meine zwei Begleiter sind glecher Meinung. Spielplatz und Geräte für Kinder nicht zumutbar. Abreissobjekt.

Das Hotel Sherlock Holmes in Meiringen ist in den Sechzigerjahren stehen geblieben, was den Teppichböden, den eher unsauberen Badezimmern (Duschvorhang) und der lieblosen Möblierung der Zimmer geschuldet ist. Auch die Fassade des Hotels könnte eine Auffrischung ertragen. Der Rezeptionist hingegen war sehr freundlich, das Frühstückbuffett war ok. Für eine Übernachtung ist das Sherlock Holmes durchaus geeignet.

Situé à Meiringen, l'hôtel profite d'un emplacement idéal pour les gorges de l'Aar et les cascades avoisinantes. L'intérêt pour Sherlock dans cet hôtel est minime. L'accueil est bien mais ne comptait pas trop parler anglais. Comme partout en Suisse Allemanique c'est cher mais bien Situé.

Hinter der Schuhablage lagen zwei tote Spinnen, deren Netze noch innen am Fenster auf ca 2 m Höhe zu bestaunen waren. Auf dem Fussboden waren Putzstreifen, aber die konnte man ja mit dem Finger easy wegmachen. Der Duft im Zimmer war sosolala. Die Betten und die Wäsche hingegen waren und rochen sauber. Frühstücksbuffet war ziemlich gut. Kaffee à discretion.

Zimmer war um 16.00 noch nicht fertig, wir haben den schlüssel bekommen und als wir ins zimmer wollten war noch ein reines chaos noch nichts bereit, nach reklamation konnten wir 30 min später rein. Personal konnte nur englisch Hotel sehr ringhörig
