The view from our room was amazong. The hot tub in the balcony was great. The room has everything we needed. A well stocked fridge (extra cost). Huge and comfy bed. The breakfast buffet is amazing and the staff is very friendly. Transportation to and from The Brown is very easy. I highly recommend this hotel. It was only my wife and I, but we saw families with kids, but I would recommend it for a romantic getaway.

Never again, visited for the weekend. Disappointed, if you are looking for food options, the breakfast buffet was lame. They had Colombian rice with beans , soup, and potatoes, breads, fruits, but rice and beans at a Hotel Called The Brown??? For breakfast??? Not only that but 80% of the people eating were with guest bracelets and were locals which were young men with women that had fake butts. The staff not very friendly typically and not on top of the guest as you would think in a place like they describe. Save your money and time and go to Sofitel Baru.

The room door is severelly rusted. Many other rooms also have the door rusted. It looks bad. Also no local TV or cable channels, if you want to watch something in TV you must have a colombian Netflix account. The only thing you can watch is you tube. But since we lost power twice in less than 24 hours, the internet connection is lost and when power comes back, you have to call the lobby for tecniccian to reconect the internet.

The stay was perfect, Room was clean staff was corteus and the food was very good, we were a super large party (60-70 people). So we kind of put the hotel staff to a stress test, which they pass with honors. My only advise to them are to look for an alternative to the tukies to drive poeople up and down to the parking hotel door or the praia restaurant. two (3 cramped) seats are not so convenient when you have so many people triying to go different places. and the large one for 6 peoples was not always available. the other thing would be to add some real seating at the Praia, the Main door and the Parking to wait for the transportation.

Check-in was crazy. They had no room to store our bags and 50 people checked in at the same time with no rooms available. So everyone is just standing around waiting with suitcases filling most of the room. They told us our room would be done in an hour, but it took 3-4 hours to get all of our rooms ready. We could have left and done something with our time, but the communication was terrible. Not equipped for so many people.

El servicio muy malo para ese tipo de propiedad. A excepción de Santiago, la mayoría de los empleados no fueron amables ni estaban sonrientes. Las duchas no funcionan bien y los mármoles de las duchas están manchados de humedad. Falta mantenimiento. Se oye demasiado el ruido de las habitaciones vecinas por las puertas metálicas.

A beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. I have very mixed feelings about The Brown, Guatape. On the positives, the hotel is located in paradise - a beautifully secluded location. The restaurant food is superb, and the beach club is incredible. However, The Brown is advertised as a Luxury hotel 'Autograph' which was not matched by the service. The hotel presents images of a well equipped gym, and whilst there is good cardio equipment, many of the images are outdated with almost all of the weight training equipment not in the gym - it was actually very basic for a hotel gym weight equipment wise, with one multi gym, two legs machines and a few free weights. The hotel rooms are advertised as sound proofed - this is a misrepresentation. On my final night I was kept up all night from thumping music on a boat in the lake - far from the hotel. The thin windows do not do much for outside noise at all. Check in was not a welcoming experience with security not speaking english and asking us for our hotel bracelets - which we did not have prior to check in. He demanded proof of reservation at the hut - where there is no cell service.. Eventually he had a clipboard with guest names - that could have been simply used from the start. We were driven up to the hotel reception to line up for 10 minutes before we could check in. The bathroom had mould in several places by the toilet wall, shower wall and elsewhere which was obvious and what I would expect in a basic hotel.

The view is outstanding and the facilities are beautiful. The food was also very good. However, there was no Christmas decorations whatsoever; and the staff at the breakfast were not very attentive. The food is also extremely overpriced for Colombia.
