“Style over Substance”
We stayed at Palazzo Bifora 10-12 September 2026.
The hotel is housed in a beautiful old building right in the heart of Mdina. There are only 6 rooms and superficially at least the hotel has been refurbished to a high standard.
Each room is described as a suite, some may be bigger than our’s. Our ‘suite’, Mesquita, was tiny. So small in fact you cannot even fully open the wardrobe and it is only just possible to walk into the bathroom without turning sideways!
The bathroom suffered from a lack of attention to detail. The toilet seat was loose. There was permanent and very unappealing stain in the toilet below the water line. A lot of the fittings were quite loose. On two occasions during our short stay there was no hot water.
The lovely Skypool heavily featured on the website…..it is there, but be advised firstly it is NOT exclusive to the hotel, and secondly it shares a space with their quite busy restaurant. So if you want to spend some time relaxing by your hotel’s pool you need to choose your moment carefully.
Breakfast at €25 a head sort of sums the place up. Beautifully presented, but insubstantial, and pretty poor value.
(incidentally we took all these points up with the hotel directly frankly they were indifferent)
