「What a delight it was staying at Franck and Virginie's. They were so happy to introduce us to all their young horses - and their youngest two week old foal. The property is situated in the middle of farmland (plenty of wheat and never-ending cognac vineyards) and was so peaceful - we enjoyed sitting outside in the evening with a bottle of rose and a basic evening meal we put together ourselves. The Charente river and its charming villages were easily accessible by car for walks, as were...

「On our arrival after six hours travelling in a heatwave we were informed that the air conditioning wasn't working. From the sign on the door it was obviously not a recent problem. We feel we should have been told prior to our arrival when we would have had chance to book alternative accommodation. As it was we had no choice but to accept. The fan in one of the rooms was broken and could not be angled. We were told there were no spares, neither was there anywhere to get cold water. My grandson...

「Due to the wildfire in Bordeaux, we changed our hotel to O’Nice and stayed for 2 nights, the location is perfect for sightseeing around the region, took us 35 mins driving to Cognac, and 40 mins to Royan. Our room was not big, but a/c was quite good in such hot weather. Parking space is generous and very secure, and the restaurant next to the hotel is always busy, we’ll give it a try next time.」
