St. Mary's, Maulden : Eastern end. The oldest parts of this church date from the C13th, but it was enlarged and partly rebuilt in 1859. The cost of this building work was largely borne by the Rector of the time, Charles Ward and the Duke of Bedford. This church is built in the local chocolate-coloured stone (Cf. 136209 and 155592 )

The Ailesbury Mausoleum, Maulden. In the churchyard of St.Mary's in Maulden is this unusual little building. It is the Ailesbury Mausoleum and was originally erected to the memory of Diana Countess of Elgin - a member of the Ailesbury family.

St. Mary the Virgin, Maulden. This is a far more substantial church than it seems at first sight. The tower is only quite small but it has side aisles and other additions. It also has the curious detached building seen here on the right, which is the Ailesbury family mausoleum. This church has its own website ! http://www.stmarysmaulden.org/

Got ripped off from the hotel!
The place is old, but not an issue. But the sheets weren't really clean and found a pubic hairs on my pillow. I slept in my day clothes. The facilities had free parking. I parked and asked reception during check in if that's the right place to park and they advice me yes. After return home from my ...
