This is a truly unique, beautiful place, built into a cave, right in the Sassi of Matera. The owners/operators of the hotel are kind, helpful, and wonderful, and the breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful hotel, excellent location. Super clean. Tiziana and Carla went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Made arrangements for parking and transfer, booking activities and restaurants. And the cherry on top: an OUTSTANDING breakfast. I would need more than 5 stars to rate the overall experience!

Beautiful property! The service was impeccable and the breakfast was spectacular. We were thinking of canceling our stay due to some logistical issues but we were so glad we decided to go and made it work. Matera was my favorite place to visit in Italy. It was hard to get to since the train station was closed but we traveled via Trinitalia link -speed train to Sorrento and bus from Sorrento to Matera but it was very efficient.

This was our favourite of all 5 properties we stayed in Puglia. The staff were wonderful, even before we arrived their service was incredibly attentive. They catered for my gluten free requirements more than anywhere else I've ever stayed. The cave room was gorgeous, all modern conveniences, but sympathetically designed to retain the old world charm. We loved it, and highly recommend for your Matera stay.

What a unique property with a prime walkable location. Our room was built into the rock facade. Lovely decor with an Italian design sensibility. The bathtub and sink, the faucets, the ingenious clothes hanging line, the tile accents. All appreciated. The breakfast was incredible with every thing fresh, homemade and copious. The staff helpful. We parked in town, and were picked up at the garage and dropped off in Stassi- avoiding the challenges of city parking. We enjoyed walking around The beautiful city.

Beautiful property and excellent staff. Breakfast was excellent. Only downside was no door to bathroom, only a curtain, but it is a cave room. I would recommend this location and would go back again.

The room was much smaller than the pictures led to believe. Essentially a cave dwelling but with modern plumbing and electrical. The charm was ok but the mattress was terribly soft and didn't provide a good night's sleep. Also it was very noisy...we could hear everything outside as if it were inside. People talking, bottles being thrown inyo the recycle bin at 1 am and again at 6 am...etc.

Lovely spot to experience Matera.Carla was very helpful although no assistance at property after 6 pm or before 8 am.room was huge…bathroom tight but it was in a cave and was truly unique Would recommend..
