I had never been to Marlinton before. I went for skiing at Snoeshoe but discovered there are many things to come back for. The year around nature activities and the Observation Center are something I would come back for.

Marlinton is a quaint and patriotic community. We were able to observe the 9/11 memorial celebration on the town square. If you like to feed the ducks, visit the Greenbrier Grille and Lodging.

Our place was located outside of the town and we didn't get a chance to experience Marlinton. It looked like a cute little town but we were concentrating on riding the Greenbrier River Rail Trail.

"This was a great place to stay. The suite like room was fantastic. The inside parking was great especially when it was pouring out. All I would say is take some breakfast supplies like eggs and fruit. They had toast, bagels, and muffins. Highly recommend. "
"This hotel is amazing. Everything is first class quality. Beautiful and historic place with lots to see and do on the grounds of the hotel and also in town."
"The only two downsides were a lack of WiFi and cell service (only available in the main house) and no GPS. They do send you very detailed directions, but if you are wholly unfamiliar with the area, it can be a little unsettling to be on winding roads outside of civilization with no cell service. I admittedly panicked (we drove for 12 straight hours overnight), and our friend was on the verge of declaring us missing because he couldn't get in touch with us. Obviously, we were totally fine and laughed about it later.
The resort itself was beautiful, quiet, and the staff were very friendly. The cabins were cozy and warm, as we were there in February/March when it was cold, and the exterior bath house was also very warm. It was clean and there was plenty of hot water.
I highly recommend if you're looking to escape into nature."
