We enjoyed our stay at Funky Fish where the flavoursome meals were included in the room fee! The bungalow was spacious, clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating arranging cheap boat transfers. We were right in front of our private beach and you could snorkel right there! The pool was a good size and the only downside was the wifi was broken during our stay.
Staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Room was clean. The premises were green and well maintained. The meals were delicious and drinks reasonably priced. The staff played music and sang upbeat songs every evening. The beach length was small but nice. The water was perfect for swimming. Their boat service was reliable and very low priced. Met several nice guests. Will definitely stay here next time. Highly recommend this resort!
Spent 3 nights. Staff was attentive and gracious. If you are looking for a laid back, low key get away, this could be it. It is somewhat isolated, access is only by boat.....if you want to go anywhere, you have to arrange a boat to take you there. Great weather while I was there

Beautiful location. Right on the beach. The Bure (hut) was dated and well lived in with many repairs and painting over the years.
I loved it. It was quaint, the beds were comfy, patio was shaded. Pathway was well lit.
If you are looking to be pampered or catered to, don’t look here! If you are looking for basic low key accommodations to relax and read a book this is it. No fancy cocktails or gourmet meals. 3 meals a day and it’s take it or leave it. Portions are plentiful but very basic fare. High on carbs and protein. Scarce on greens or vegetables.
Some of the staff deserve a shout out. So here to John for the great Kava ceremony and sing along on my last night. And a hug to Grace who kept my room clean 😌
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful 2 night stay at funky fish in February. The staff were great and the location was beautiful. Very relaxing and delicious food. I also loved the live music they sung at dinner time - such a treat
If you’re looking to disconnect from the stress of modern society, this is the place. The staff were amazing and accommodating and the location is beautiful. I will definitely be back.
Great: staff, pool/deck/eating area, beds, rooms simple, but clean. Quiet and restful. Nice water and not a bad place to visit a few other islands from on day trips.
My partner and I came here recently on a surf trip and absolutely LOVED it. We were warmly welcomed and recognized when we came back a week later. Loved the huts right on the water, the delicious homecooked meals, and the surf we could access via boat with ease. Super relaxing vibe, good price and community feel. Coming back to Funky in November.
This place was awesome. I was looking to chill out and do nothing other then sip on drinks, eat delicious home cooked meals and surf all day….
and I got exactly that! It’s exactly what I needed after months of traveling solo. The personal cabins on the waterfront were absolutely picture perfect. The islands were easy to navigate to and from. Never ran into any issues and the staff were always around to help. It’s a good fun environment, the best surfing and super affordable!! Definitely will return many more times.
Thank you!

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
It is a nice happy spot. Not pretentious and where many nice and easy going people gather. Malolo is also a beautiful island and from the property you can reach Mt Silo and have a stunning view. However, the food quality should be improved, including with some more local products/cuisine, and costs should be made clear and transparent, such as the 25FJD per person asked for a 1 minute boat ride from the Ferry to the resort.
Excellent staff! Great area for diving. Beach is not swimmable, but loved walking it when the surf was out. Plenty of food but would have liked more options. Too much rice and fries. Loved the bure’s. Not much to do.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Pros: Food was good! They were kind enough to accommodate my dietary needs. We really enjoyed the snorkeling. Pool was clean. Fans really cooled off the room; lack of A/C was not an issue. Cons: Organizing boat trips for the off-island activities was a bit more challenging than I thought, and punctuality was an issue. We learned that the schedule is catered more to the needs of surfers. Sometimes I felt like I was bothering the staff members when I asked questions. But overall, our week at Funky Fish was super fun. It's not fancy, but we were totally comfortable.
Great place to stay in bure with sea view, lovely crystal clear water for swimming. Lovely morning and evening views. Very helpful and friendly staff. Walking distance to six senses beach resort, which is a great add-on. Cheap boat available to visit Musket cove and plantation resorts. Cheapest of most of the other resorts.
The beach is tidal, so you won’t be able to swim there all the time, but just over the little hill and six senses beach resort offers all tide swimming and facilities available for visitors.
I would really love to go there again.
Affordable, chill, wonderful staff and just good vibes to really slow down if you're willing to go with the flow and embrace the bumpy boat rides!
Fanatstic snorkelling and surfing options that you can boat out to and decent hiking areas.
Really communal with other guests and staff.
Big shout out to the staff when power was cut and they worked so hard to make sure everyone was comfortable as they worked through the night to have it restored. They were such legends.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The views are incredible, but the manager is not friendly, the bed sheets and towels were dirty, the kayaks they offer do not exist (they have one and it is very damaged), it is not a good place to bathe or snorkel. In general, the pool furniture is neglected and in poor condition. The dinners were very good. If your idea is to relax in a hammock all day, this is your place.
Funky Fish was a great property to travel to while in Fiji. Great price point that includes all meals which I thought were good. Beautiful beach and pool area. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are simple but has everything you need especially when you will be spending most of your time in the common areas. I felt safe travelling alone here. There is a good hike to a nice viewpoint above the resort as well.
The one thing that could be improved is communication around boat transfers to/from the island. Be aware that you may end up going to multiple stops before you stop at funky fish if you book through them - which was fine but good to be aware as it added an extra hour and a half onto the journey which wasn’t communicated very well.
The Funky Fish was amazing! The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to assist guests. The photos online do not capture the beauty of the place—it’s even better in person. For its price, the Funky Fish is well worth the value, without a doubt.
However, getting from the resort to other islands or activities can be somewhat challenging and expensive. The island itself offers limited activities, and the cost of boat transportation can accumulate quickly, each boat trip costing at least $50 FJD. It's something to keep in mind for budgeting purposes.
For vegetarians, dining options can be a bit of a challenge. The kitchen staff does their best to accommodate dietary needs, but options are rather limited. The food is generally good, but vegetarians might find the options difficult.
Despite these considerations, I would definitely return to the Funky Fish for another visit. Its an incredible place to stay!
Spent 4 days at Funky Fish. We were disappointed in our stay & by day 4 we were keen to get back to the mainland. After comparing our stay with their website it seems the resort is falsely advertised.
When booking we noticed it included a full board, the website mentioned they would be serving breakfast, morning tea, 2 course lunch, afternoon tea & 3 course dinner which included a menu of different items with burgers, curries, seafood options & many more but on arrival we were told we were being served the breakfast, lunch & dinner with no menu presented. For the first three lunches we were served chicken, rice & lettuce & when asking for a vegetarian option the kitchen were unable to provide so if you’re someone with dietary requirements or loves a variety in meals then the Funky Fish is not the place for you. We noticed that other guests would transfer to other resorts to buy their meals.
From their lack in hygiene my partner and I both left Funky Fish with frequent visits to the toilet for days following our departure.
The pillowcases, bedsheets & towels were all stained. We often found bugs within the bed & geckos on the walls despite keeping doors & shutters closed. We had cockroaches in the bathroom however the shower is open air so it was expected we’d see critters around the shower.
They have a great swimming pool, great access to snorkelling, good hiking & staff were friendly.
The stay was a let down & upon our return to Fiji we will be avoiding Funky fish.
We had a great time staying at the funky fish! Accommodation worked really well for our group of young students. We also really enjoyed the food, and the drinks selection was great too! There were some really fun activities on offer, and I would definitely encourage taking advantage of these- we really enjoyed going to Cloud 9 and having a day trip to Musket Cove!
