"I had a mostly pleasant stay at this centrally located, highly walkable hotel. The rooms are modern and comfortable, the staff is lovely. The restaurant food is good – however I was disappointed by the lack of authentic Guyanese options on the dinner menu, the hotel itself is short on amenities if you get stuck inside on a rainy day.
However, I cannot recommend this hotel due to their billing practices. I booked a 'Pay at Hotel' rate via Expedia. At check-in, they indicated their machines could not charge in USD and they would convert into Guyanese Dollars (GYD). Rather than using the market rate, they used their own inflated fixed exchange rate. This arbitrary double-conversion resulted in almost $400 more than I agreed to pay according to my Expedia itinerary.
I will not return to this hotel, as I have no confidence in there billing practices. If you choose to stay here, I highly recommend prepaying your reservation in full so you don't get hit with inflated exchange rates at the front desk."
