Super friendly, hard-working, helpful and professional staff. This place has character, I love it. It’s what you would expect from a hostel, nothing more nothing less. Hostels are places to meet other travellers, and we did here, with lots of communal space. The “tent city” others mentioned was merely 3 tents down the block; it’s not like we were fighting our way to the door through an army of homeless people. I do recommend this place.

Good location, parking is around 7-12 USD. Keep in mind this is a Hostel, so be prepared for noise late at night, especially on weekends. The location is convenient for several destinations around Hollywoo

Great little gated hostel with an awesome atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and fun. We took advantage of both the free breakfast and the bbq party (with a full free bar?!) and had a great time. We had a private room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is a little shady, lots of homeless and tents but they keep to themselves and we felt safe behind the locked doors/gates. Just steps from lots of awesome food and shopping, super close to the main part of Hollywood blvd.

Old Motel in Bad Area
This was an old motel that they put paint on to look nice. wouldn't walk on floor with bare feet. Its across from a homeless shelter and a tent town within 100 ft. Pictures are deceiving, Hotel staff was very good and accommodating.

This property was an excellent value. For an economical price tag, this place filled all the requirements. Great staff! Very helpful and accommodating. Downside is the neighborhood outside is not the greatest. However, there is a big metal entrance gate that makes you feel safe. Quirky and charming hotel.

During my stay, on a rainy day from 6pm to 2 a.m the power went out which means no heater no accommodations. Also my 100 cash deposit was never filled when I checked in, had to come back 6 hours later when the employee that made the va mistake was present to verify.

Staff was nice, and the room was okay at first glance. However, we found a bed bug crawling on the bed pretty quickly into entering the room. Luckily we only spent about 15 minutes inside and hadn't really settled in at all. Needless to say we left immediately.

The safety of the bldg was great, no one could just walk in off the street. There was a homeless encampment located beside it, you had to walk past to get anywhere, for the most part they were harmless, if we weren't from Vancouver we may have been scared, but we have many here as well. The staff were helpful and very nice, we had a hiccup with our room and it was switched to another. We were there for 5 days and would stay again.

The place is good for travelers that won’t spend much time there. The area has food around, and close to the hollywood walk of fame, highways and restaurants. I recommend this place for young adults only. Safe as it has codes for entry and is gated. I did not enjoy the mattress nor the pillows but everything else was good and what you pay for. Parking is available for an additional fee but even tho I reserved parking sometimes if I returned late at night, my spot was always stolen by someone else.

Surprisingly pleased
Nice place not too fancy but clean. Small tv no a/c but fan was enough. No ice machine. Mo at front desk was helpful in meeting my request for downstairs room. And I was pleased with his efforts. Paid extra $4 for guaranteed parking which was needed for after concert at the Greek theater. $9 total for parking kinda pricey but worth every penny. Breakfast was not much to speak of but Coffee was hot. Overall good place to stay and right price.

Dirty room, filthy bathroom, holes in bedsheets
I was so dissatisfied and disappointed with my stay. First of all, I found 2 cockroaches in my bathroom, the towels and bed sheets looked dirty, the sheets had holes in it, the room was dirty and old and had a weird smell. It rained when I arrived in LA so the whole place was cold; I tried putting on the heater come to find out the heater was not working. I told a staff member about it but no one arrived. I had to sleep throughout the night without heat in a cold room which was horrible. The maintenance man eventually came the next day but the damage was already done. The TV volume would frequently go in and out, which disrupted my TV watching. I felt so uncomfortable showering in such a dirty bathroom and the homeless people camping near the hotel was unsettling. I heard people talking loudly during the night on a number of occasions, which disrupted my sleep. The only saving grace for this “hotel” (it’s more of a motel really) was the friendly staff, the selection of TV channels, and fast WiFi. Everything else is as horrible just horrible.

The place have a lot of pleasing character as show in their website. They hosted a fun event with free beer while we stayed there. The staff was very nice and my room was quite clean. I was also surprised that my room come with a full kitchen.

I’d never stay again
I survived my stay but this place is more than sketchy at night. The curb outside of the hotel is full of tents for the homeless and it’s a little unnerving when you’re a single person traveling. Due to the vibe of the hotel there is no bright lighting or measures to make sure you feel safe outside of their venue but you do have to use a keypad/call box to get in the door. They wrote my number on my room key. The room was fine but not particularly well-kept. I had about an 80% confidence that the room was clean but there was a wet washcloth at the bottom of the shower and several small bars of used soap on the top shelf in the shower that I don’t think housekeeping could see but should have checked on anyway. The sheets appeared clean but the blanket had a visible oil stain or some thing on it. Towels were very old and scratchy. The microwave was very rusted and I was a little afraid to use it. All of the dishes available were obviously washed by previous guests and put away with no check from the venue. I didn’t like that you couldn’t double lock the door. As a person traveling alone it left me uneasy that someone could come in if they had a key. Since it’s an older building there are crank windows, a fan on the wall, and an in window air conditioner in the kitchen that you have to use for the whole unit. The fan Horrendously dirty. Overall, I guess I got what I paid for but I’ve paid similar prices for things that felt a lot better overall.

This is a nice place to stay, though the city needs to address the homeless encampment which is completely blocking the sidewalk next to the hotel. One has to walk in the street to get around it -- this is dangerous.
