This hotel is entirely non-air conditioned. Now I understand this isn’t a ubiquitous thing in the UK nor do I expect it, however the design of this hotel and the type of construction of the building clearly necessitates it be installed. The build is of cavity brickwork and is clearly an older building that has been renovated with thick walls. Whatever this hotel has been made with has made the insulation extremely effective.
In essence, the rooms are a SAUNA. And I cannot exaggerate or stress that point more. They give you small cheap tower fans that are nowhere near good enough. I had bags of chocolate that had completely melted at night, I had a galaxy bar that was liquid. And I had 2 nights of completely zero sleep despite the fan on and the window open.
Every staff member couldn’t have cared less when I brought it up. I got a shrug and a “we have 1600 rooms we have to do our best” response. I asked to move rooms, got told no. I asked for more fans, got told no.
Would genuinely never, ever, ever come back.
