"Off to a bad start due to the, otherwise very pleasant, owner pouncing on us as we arrived following a day of travel. We really just wanted to be left alone to arrive and unpack. Not the right time to attempt to convey information and instructions as we unpacked from the car.
Nicely situated geographically with a lovely view of the sea from the front facing windows (the only windows unfortunately) and front door. Unfortunately, a public footpath goes straight past your only windows and front...

"Location is stunning and the walks along the cliffs were breathtaking. Breakfast buffet was plentiful but the hot food was not very good. Have had better at a Premier Inn. The morning we checked out something nauseating that smelled like poo had been sprayed or dumped nearby and it assaulted our noses upon exiting the building. Glad we were leaving that day as we would have been stuck inside. Also, our bathroom towel bar and fan were not working. The outside patio lights need to have a switch to turn off. We were blinded all night and had to hang towels on them to sleep. lol. I think I left them there accidentally. Oops "
"Lovely luxurious clean room in a lovely location. Came for work and it was a nice little distance away from where I needed to get to. The staff were very very very lovely, helpful, friendly, kind and so accommodating. My train was delayed and they contacted me to make sure I was still ok to check in before they closed the check in for the evening. Also on check out they offered to keep my bags for me as I was headed to my last day on the job and it would save me carrying it around. So very helpful and accommodating.
There is a lovely little shopping area nearby that was nice to explore and a Co-op on the back door.
I have no complaints just a couple of little feedback things. One thing was that the floorboards and furniture were a little creaky and shaky, and it made me nervous that people could hear me doing my early morning workout. I’d hate to have disturbed anyone. I don’t know if anything much can be done about that, just something to bear in mind if like me you do any cardio workout sessions.
The second thing was that tv was great as it had so many apps and things to watch which were already logged in to the hotel’s account. However, on my second night, the tv wouldn’t connect to the internet anymore and so I could access the apps like Netflix etc. I only reported it when I was leaving as it wasn’t too much of a bother for me. I’m confident that had I reported it sooner, it would have been fixed for the remainder of my stay.
Thank you for having me."
"Great local place, within walking distance of the town. Lovely breakfast good quality ingredients, staff were lovely and friendly made you feel welcome."
"The room was immaculate and we had 2 windows for a sea view ❤️ I would recommend an extension plug if you want to charge items near your bed. The decor in the bedroom was light and airy, with thoughtful touches in the bathroom.
The staff were very friendly , they did seem to be multi tasking but all worked well together.
The breakfast was delicious. A selection of self serve , cereals, toast, hot drinks and juice. The yoghurts, particularly the natural bio live were great.
We were offered a choice of cooked breakfast. This included porridge, kippers and a full including bacon, sausage, eggs, beans (not in a ramekin) mushrooms, tomato and fried bread. All were cooked superbly and requests regarding choices were accommodated . There was an good choice of pastries and bread
The main menu have a varied selection and on the Friday night there was a specials menu too.
Tuscan Chicken, Gammon, duck bonbons deserve a special mention, but everything we have eaten was delicious.
If you want to unwind, take a moment, rest and relax, Gwbert is for you. The view and everything else is perfect. "
"Perfect place to stay if visiting Aberystwyth. Just a 10 mins walk from the town centre.
Clean room, comfortable bed and a good choice for breakfast."
"It is very rare that I leave reviews for hotels, but after my experience at the Black Lion Hotel in Lampeter I felt I had to.
I stayed for four nights from 16th February and returned the following week for another four nights. During both visits, I had no issues at all.
On one occasion I came down for breakfast at 7:30am instead of 8:00am. The manager/chef made it clear breakfast would not be served until 8:00am which I fully accepted and simply waited without complaint.
I then returned again on 22nd April for one night on arrival I was confronted by the same individual who immediately spoke to me in an aggressive and confrontational manner bringing up the previous breakfast situation and accusing me of being rude which is completely untrue.
When I calmly tried to explain he became more hostile, telling me “you’re not my mate” and threatening to report me to Hotels.com and have me blacklisted. This was said in an intimidating and completely unprofessional way.
This happened in front of others, including my colleague, which made it even more embarrassing and uncomfortable.
Being spoken to like that without justification was completely unacceptable.
It left me feeling uneasy for the rest of my stay which is not something I have ever experienced in over 25 years of staying in hotels.
The behaviour I encountered was far below any reasonable standard of customer service, and I would expect much better from any hotel."
