Excellent location and hotel has potential to be good with investment. Check in staff was very good and did a brilliant job. Unfortunately, the room and general decor maintenance was very poor. As a result wouldn’t stay again.
The property was in serious need of renovation, the mattresses were far too soft to be in any way comfortable and the showers had next to no water pressure. We were also given incorrect code information at check in (albeit that was mostly compensated for by the gentleman managing the hotel responding and helping really quickly). This wasn’t a problem for us (apart
from the above) but I should flag that there’s nobody ever at the reception desk.
Whilst the room was a decent size, the Victorian feature of high ceilings was welcome and the location was great being so close to Sefton Park and Lark Lane it doesn’t compensate for the points noted above. It has the potential to be a really good location and building for a hotel with the appropriate renovation and good management.

Free parking. Helpful manager. Room very hot though. Fan provided wasn't adequate. Good value for money though.
So tired. Mattresses awful, room smelt of urine, no hot water. Water was brown.
Sheets and towels were clean, staff helpful and pleasant.
Whomever owns this needs to invest in it, as it has so much potential. Until they do, avoid it!
Lovely helpful staff - Muhammad and Hassan. They locked away my road bike and allowed us to check out late as well as giving us an upgrade to a suite. Room good and big modern bathroom. Just a walk from Lark Lane cafe and bars and across the road from beautiful Sefton Park.Didnt use any hotel amenities.
Hassan was a great host, provided great service upon arrival and helped out when required too. I stayed here twice in 1 week. Great location, across from Sefton park and easy routes into the city.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit tired but our room was clean and had everything we needed. I couldn't get the TV to work but that wasn't much of a problem. There was a loud whirring noise on and off on the second night woke us up but it did stop eventually. The hotel was reasonable priced and close to the aquatics centre where my son was competing.
So after reading the bad reviews and seeing the bad pictures we weren’t looking forward to arriving. But I can honestly say we were pleasantly surprised, we arrived late due to my partner finishing work late but a quick phone call on our arrival and the hotel manager came down to check us in. He was extremely helpful and gave us all the information we needed and sorted the car parking out :) the room was perfect very clean brand new towels, heating on which made it cozy the bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing!! I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again thank you for a lovely stay!!
My stay was amazing. My room was cosy, warm and clean. Very comfortable. Very good location by Sefton Park,
The staff was very helpful.
I highly recommend it

We used to always stay at this hotel years ago when visiting our daughter in Liverpool University so wanted to revisit. Great location by Sefton Park and Lark lane. Nice and peaceful room but as previous people have mentioned the hotel needs a little tlc and the restaurant and bar were closed although we were really pleased to hear that they will be reopening next week. On the morning when we were leaving lots of gardening and ground maintenance was taking place in readiness for this which was great to see. Really hope that this place becomes a success again as it used to be a lovely hotel and even a wedding venue. The high ceilings and fountain/statues are impressive and really deserves to be reestablished as the great hotel it used to be so I wish the new owners lots of luck. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaan- an excellent price and would definitely stay again.

Had to change rooms because booked room was in very poor decorative taste like being in a brothel. Staff very helpful and changed our room. Dog biscuits and hair all over the floor, but warm and comfortable. Furniture could do with updating as well. Will not be staying again.

Our room was comfortable and well presented, check in was easy and welcoming. The hotel was easy to find and in a great location right by the park and a short stroll from Lark Lane.
A few minor DIY jobs need seeing to in the room and bathroom which do not impact the function of the room but make it feel a little run down- things like light a light bulb needing replacing, some skirting board coming away in the bathroom, and redundant fixtures from when hand soap used to be supplied in bottles fixed to the wall etc.
The TV is a bit difficult to see from the bed because the fancy bed frame is in the way!
Overall, this is a fairly affordable place to stay, with a bit of a 'faded glory' vibe on the outside. We may well return next time we stay in the area.

Overall very good. Shared a room with 5 adults making it £55 for two nights each. Very friendly manager. Room was clean and had a small selection of teas, coffees and soaps. Codes on the doors with 24/7 access for night outs.

The staff were very friendly on check in.
However the warren of doors and corridors to my room, no dead lock on my door and comings and goings left me feeling unsafe in my room. I wouldn’t recommend this for single female travellers.
