We booked a family suite which is lovely - very modern and tastefully decorated. A lovely tea/coffee area and bottles of water weee supplied. Both bedrooms have patio doors opening out onto outside area. The views are amazing and it is just so peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was amazing - THE BEST bacon!! Would highly recommend this place - ideal for walkers.
Lovley location, the views were beautiful. We stayed for one night as our family live locally. Very clean, great breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Will definitely book again.
Great venue, we had a rocking party, great music, food, should have booked en-suite, not glamping, at our age!!!!!
All good, lovely situation, drive in could do with a filler!!
Lovely place to stay altho weather not good so was bit uncomfortable as no entertainment for us owners were lovely first time in the hospitality sector so a lot to learn but it’s a great place to stay if your a rambler or even workman that need a place to put their head down for the night food was excellent and reasonably priced would love to do it again but in warmer weather

Great last minute stay!
Everyone was very friendly, they had only been there a few weeks and recognised they had a lot to do. But the friendly staff/ owners could not of been more accommodating and it is a great location, stunning views and great for walking. They were so accommodating we were able to stay an extra night! Sadly I damaged my car on leaving hitting a pot hole to avoid some sheep, but completely my fault!
Fantastic stay at Wheal Tor. Would highly recommend. Be careful when reading old reviews. The new owners have only been there a few weeks, and they are wonderful. We had a problem with our booking (my fault). Charlotte went above and beyond to rectify.
Stayed beginning sept. Hosts couldn’t be anymore welcoming, we have tricky dietary requirements and the owners went totally above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay.
The hotel room was clean, lovely to have decent sized mugs! The woodland view was lovely. Some bits of the room were a little tired but nothing a lick of paint won’t hurt!
Food was delicious and hot, and very quick too. Slept really well, the outside door was a bit noisy when people came in but apart from that lovely and quiet.
Overall had a lovely stay and would definitely return!
It was fun but the web pictures are SO misleading!
The owners were brilliant. So lovely and welcoming with lots of advice for trips out etc.
We felt let down with the glamping pod, the pictures and description on the website are rather misleading. We didn't expect, just a shed with a couple of beds, a table, only 1 plug socket and a dirty kettle (brown stains inside and grime and dust on top) And a roller blind that was obviously broken and didnt cover the whole window... Also the stable door did not have a lock to keep the top and bottom doors together so opening and closing was a little tricky as the door kept trying to close as well. The small heater did keep the pod warm and cosy and the beds were comfortable. We slept comfortably and well, listening to the rain hammer on the roof (which was comforting sounds for us)
The breakfast was underwhelming, the pastries were lovely but the undercooked sausage was worrying... When we were offered a "Full English" we did expect more than 1 sausage, 1 bacon rasher, 1/2 raw tomato with herbs on top, 2 eggs and a cold burnt piece of toast.
We adored the sheep having free roam of the place and even though the road leading up was difficult to maneuver with potholes everywhere, it was a nice view to say goodbye to on our way out.
A beautiful place to have a hotel and glamping pod campsite. Just needs a little love and attention in some areas.
Would like to say thankyou to the lovely owners for being so understanding when we checked in just after 9pm and we DID enjoy ourselves!
We arrived and trek through sheep droppings everywhere greeted and immediately told their was a problem with the hot water and offered some pliers to try and adjust it.
Upon entering room 2 the musty damp smell hit you before being greeted by 60,s decor 2 different types of carpet and mould all around base of shower.
We sat in the room for no more than 20 minutes before deciding it would be better to make the six hour drive home than risk any health hazards that we felt could come from an obviously uncleaned or sanitised room.
I understand that lack of guests due to covid is financially crippling but that should not reflect in standards going forward.
We would not recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel has a great location but the approach road leading to the hotel is in a diabolical condition (terrible potholes) which could cause damage to normal road cars.
If you looking to stay and enjoy beauty of nature, this is the place to stay!
Don't be surprised that Sheeps can get you up in the morning, there is no built in shower or toilet in the room, so don't expect luxury stay... expect different feelings, enjoy the views, fresh air and calmness.....
We loved staying there.
Kids where happy as could even run with the sheeps lol.

Friendly service, but beds were really uncomfortable.
Was charged an additional £10 on arrival despite ringing ahead, no mention of a charge on booking.
Checked in late at night, the room was very cold with only an 800w heater to use. Plug socket was hanging off the wall, the mattress was broken and a strong smell of damp in the room which has caused a chest infection. Signs of mould in the bathroom also. The sound proofing is not very good and could hear the occupants of the room upstairs thudding around and talking. Over priced at £100 for the night, the room was sub standard, I informed the hotelier in the morning and other than a bemused look no action taken.
The other rooms might be nicer but this one needs sorting, the location is beautiful but unfortunately that room should not be let out.

Quirky Hotel right on Bodmin Moor. Beds & lines were comfy & clean. My son loved watching the chickens & sheep.
Location was superb - absolutely stunning views. Room was basic but fine. It was a good size with a comfy bed. There was a slight hint of dog/damp but we opened a window and it soon went. Food in the bar was delicious too. The bar did shut early but that was fine as tbe landlord mentioned it.
Pot holes leading up the hotel could be a problem in the dark.
It's not clean breakfast was the same al morning the baps shrank, asked to clean the room they give us the hoover
