Behold, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile in all its wiener-wonderment! There are currently eight Wienermobiles gallivanting across county commandeered by Hotdoggers passing out Wienerwhistles to wiener fanatics. The Wienermobile made a stop at the NHL All Star Fan Festival in Columbus. What's the connection between hockey and wieners? Well, Oscar Mayer is owned by Kraft and Kraft has a promotion called Hockeyville in which communities compete to demonstrate their commitment to the sport of ice hockey. The winning community gets a cash prize dedicated to upgrading their local home arena, as well as host an NHL preseason game.

On the north side of Ohio Stadium, also known as the Horse Shoe, there's a huge archway with a beautiful mosaic and pictures of iconic players. Though I've been to the 'Shoe many times, it was only recently that I discovered the flowers at the top of the arch. #UrbanJungle

The Columbus Blue Jackets #CBJ and Nationwide Arena went all out as hosts of the 2014 NHL All-star Game. In addition to hosting the skills competition and the game itself, the NHL fan festival was held at the nearby convention center and the Arena District was turned into All Star Winter Park with a giant snow slide and an outdoor NHL regulation sized ice rink.

This pink and white marbled petunia is actually an unintended mutation of what was intended to be a completely pink bloom. The OSU cultivar trials, located at Ohio State University's Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens, are conducted each year in order to evaluate ornamental bedding and container plants. The objective of these trials is to observe the performance of new and recently introduced cultivated plant varieties under environmental conditions typical of central Ohio. Despite their stated scientific and economic purposes, the gardens are beautiful to walk through and photograph. Best of all, they're FREE!

This arch is all that remains of Columbus Grand Union Station, the city's third and final train station. Built in 1897 and designed by Daniel H. Burnham and Company of Chicago, the train station was located in the current footprint of the Greater Columbus Convention Center. On October 22, 1976, demolition began despite having been listed on the National Register of Historic Places two years earlier. A restraining order federal judge George Smith halted demolition, but it was too late and only one arch of the ornate structure was saved. In 1999, the arch in its entirety was slowing inched over several blocks to its current location at Dimon McPherson Commons in the Arena District. #architecture
