Good proximity to the I93, and Irving gas station. A small, but pretty river flows along the back.
Pretty clean. Typical old motel (pink toilet & tub! Retro!) with some effort made for upgrades (e.g. laminate flooring). Parking directly in front of your room. Good AC. Modern flat screen with Netflix, Disney, etc. But limited live TV and couldn’t watch the MLB game. Small fridge with a little freezer compartment kept our road trip drinks cold and our ice pack just fit. Small table and 2 chairs. Microwave is communal and outside.
Could use different/additional window coverings. Only has blackout curtains (which are great for sleeping) so if you open them because you want daylight in the room, all passers-by - and our room had many - can see right in (when you’re changing your clothes for example).
There was no cold water in the shower so the scalding hot water meant no shower the first morning. But two thumbs up, it was fixed by the time we got back later in the day. The sink plug plunger rod didn’t get fixed though. So still had to pry the plug out manually.
Didn’t see any restaurants within easy walking distance (the one down the road is shuttered but there was some construction work going on, so maybe eventually?) but found decent options within a 5-15 minute drive.
Quick drive to the Flume Gorge and The Basin - which is why we picked it.
I’d consider staying again, but with other cute spots in the area I’d probably try another place.
