"We stayed at the Villa in an oceanfront suite room close to the lobby as many suggested they were newer. We enjoyed our stay and especially the friendly bartender gal at the main pool swim up bar! The great staff at the front lobby entrance promptly helped us w cabs and shuttles. The shuttle drivers were terrific too!"
"Stayed for our honeymoon. The property was beautifully positioned on the water with views of the WICO port. The pools were clean and offered sun and shade options. Beach access (at nearby Bouy Haus) was less than ideal, you can visit the beach but there were no amenities for Westin guests (chairs, umbrellas, etc.). We wished there were more private places to just sit and relax, there were two chairs overlooking the beach which we loved but so did other guests.
Food options were obviously limited and expensive. Which we knew before we went. We were glad we had a car to venture out, but did have $40/day fees for valet only parking. We did experience low tire pressure on our rental and Valet attendants were able to help us with air.
Our garden view room was clean and spacious but we could often hear the family/crying children above us often through the bathroom vent…that was a bummer.
Caution: resort has cats that freely roam and while they’re super friendly, it’s odd to see them in the lobby and in the restaurant."
Sonesta Ocean Point All Inclusive, Adults Only Resort
4/10 Poor
"We recently stayed at Sonesta and while the hotel itself is beautiful with amazing views and a great location, our experience was unfortunately very frustrating.
Upon check-in, we specifically booked an ocean view room but were initially given Room 101, which had a parking lot/front entrance view instead. After having to make a fuss, we were finally moved to Room 311, which was much better.
However, on days 2 and 3, the AC stopped working. On top of that, there was heavy construction going on directly below our room. The noise and vibrations were constant and made it very difficult to relax or enjoy the vacation.
Thankfully, one of the managers was understanding and agreed the situation was not right, and eventually moved us again to Room 420. We appreciated that effort.
Overall, the hotel itself is nice, the property is beautiful, and the ocean views are great — but guests should not have to deal with multiple room issues, broken AC, and ongoing construction disruptions during their stay. We hope management improves communication and guest accommodations moving forward."
"Spent 4nights and it was beautiful close to beach great views. The only thing I didn’t like was the restaurant and bar closed early like 9pm so if u didn’t have food by then you will starve and if you did have food there was no microwave to heat the food up."
"This is my second time to Carina Bay. I really enjoy the resort, the rooms are a great size and were very clean. The only issues I had were with the main cheg, he had a bad attitude and was not serving food hot or good. The other chef she was amazing! The main transportation guy that the resort uses is very rude! I ended up finding outside transportation to use just so I wouldn't have to use him! Also, they need to keep track of their room mechanisms. The one to my room died and I was locked out of my room and they had to move me to another room. Other than that the rest of the staff was great, and the drinks were great as well."
"Hmmm, I expected a Jimmy Buffet type of lobby , was NOT ! Food was not it at all , they did drop other towels faster than I expected and the rooms had no drain issue etc so that was good ,"
