Nice hotel
Hotel has a restaurant that gets busy and shares the hotels staff, so keep in mind a bit of waiting for assistance when needed. But Hotel was great, Rooms were comfy, Staff was ok, food was great, vibe and decor of hotel was good, we had a waterfall view from our room. Shared bath was a bit musty and needed ventilation, wifi was crap. Location was great and in middle of strip, train station nearby.

Very central, close to falls and train
Some rooms are very small compared to others for the same price. Shower is on a different floor, shared toilet too. No aircon and very noisy ...lots of door slamming, suitcases being dragged on wooden floors and you can hear people walking on the floor above you.

Lovely stay
This hotel was great! We read the reviews and had done our research so we knew that breakfast and parking were not included in the hotels.com rate. Yes, there were some people arguing about that when we arrived. But with that out of the way, we had a wonderful, clean room with a beautiful view of the waterfall. It was nicely located in town so we could easily walk to everything. The "colorful" manager was fine with us. He was friendly and amusing and gave us a great, romantic room. We were impressed and very much enjoyed our stay!

Nice location
Hotel was in a nice location and had on-site parking. Hotel owner did upsell having us look at 3 rooms (the one we booked and 2 other higher priced ones) to get us to book a more expensive one. We talked with another guest and he did the same thing to her. Overall though a very nice hotel.

Clean and strategic location to jungfrau.
Perfect location to Jungfrau and the hotel just walk in 10 minutes from Lauterbrunen train station. Enjoyed the scenery and can hear waterfall from the hotel room.

Affordable, just do not bother with the breakfast
Tiny rooms yet affordable, shared bathrooms yet clean. Staff not the most helpful but they speak several languages. The big negative mark is the breakfast, sold as a buffet with hot and cold options. Reality, few pieces of bread, old cheese and ham, couple of yogurt pots and boiled eggs, definitely a rip off for CHF19!!! Right next door there is a lovely coffee shop with freshly baked bread and freshly squeezed juices, you will have a lovely breakfast under CHF15.

Great location. Not best place to stay
We love Lauterbrunnen but were disappointed w this hotel. Once you book the reservation it is nonrefundable. That should have been a warning sign. It is a nice enough place but there are places just as good that include a great breakfast and do not charge CHF5 every time the two of us get glasses of water! Also the restaurant staff was terribly overworked. There were only 1 or 2 servers at most when it was full of customers. Also hotels.com did not tell me my room did not have a bathroom so we had to spend the extra to upgrade to a room w a bathroom after we got there. We bought an electronic teapot so we could have hot water for tea in our room without having to bug the stressed out restaurant workers and pay for the water. They also charge for parking which other places do not. We will choose a different place next time we go to lauterbrunnen.

Would Stay Again--Maybe a Different Room, Though
The husband and I were here for 4 nights in mid-June as a base for Adventure in the Berner Oberland. The hotel has a great location: 10 - 15 minutes' walk from the train and cable car stations and also Staubbach waterfall, 5 minutes from a laundromat, right across the street from a stop for the bus to the upper end of the valley, and surrounded by edibles suitable for most occasions and sophistications of palate. The staff spoke varying degrees of English, but the proprietor's was excellent, and he gave us lots of tips on activities and area history (he grew up in the hotel) and cheerfully humored my incessant requests for correction of my cruddy German. We'd definitely stay here again, but we'd probably change rooms. We were in a budget double with a shared toilet in the hall and a separate shared shower one floor up, which turned out to be kind of inconvenient when we were trying to keep the husband's sunburned legs cool with water overnight until the grocery store opened in the morning and I could get some after-sun lotion for him. Also, the smaller size of the budget room meant that the husband kept banging his sunburned legs on the furniture--lots of yelping. Having only one manual key for the room made it difficult for us to split up for independent puttering, but it was nice that the main hotel door got locked (opened for guests with an electronic key fob) when the reception area wasn't attended. There's also an attached restaurant.

This Hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the train station in town. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony at no extra charge. We found the staff to be friendly. No frills hotel but clean and fun for the family. The location was incredible. Right below the waterfalls and just a few minutes to the train to Wengen or Tram to Murren. Dinner at the restaurant was just okay. Breakfast was a very limited selection and overpriced. The coffee shop next door is much better for less money. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. On arrival we were shown different rooms in a attempt to pay for a upgrade and then shown the rooms we had apparently booked which were not as advertised. We had booked 2 rooms with a shared bathroom and were taken to two seperate rooms one with a toilet and the other with a sink and told wash facilities were on a seperate floor and shared with 8 other rooms. When we complained to the hotel manager he then argued with us saying the problem was with the booking agent and was not forthcoming with resolving the problem.

Our room was on the top floor with tilted roof where I bumped my head several times. Other than that, room is comfortable and clean. Location is very good, close to the train station and the big water fall. Front desk people was very helpful. Will recommend people to stay there.

Better towns and hotels to choose from
I must start by stating that the hotel staff was very polite and respectful so this review in no way should diminish their efforts to provide a good experience. First, DO NOT stay in Lauterbrunnen. Go to Grimelwald or some other town offering more choices in hotels and restaurants. As for the hotel speficially, the rooms are hit or miss on if they have good amounts of space, if they are painted or decorated properly, if they have a desk, etc. They all lack electrical outlets, we found 1 we could use in our 3 rooms we rented. The roof angles down cutting through many rooms making them feel very small. The hotel's check-in check-out policy is the worst I have seen in the approx. 10 countries I have visited. Check-in is from 4pm-8pm and check-out from 8am-10am. Before, between, or after those hours, the doors are locked and the staff is generally not in the hotel. Early check-in is NOT possible because the staff does not arrive until 4pm. The rooms regardless of bed size contain multiple twin beds pushed together that spread apart when sleeping with your spouse. Some rooms have the bathroom vanity outside of the bathroom in the actual bedroom. The doors and locks are loud when opened and closed. The walls are paper thin. We could hear tvs, electric toothbrushes, clothes being put on hangers, people talking, drinking, etc. Finally, no air conditioning even though other towns do have it in their hotels, so I don't know if it is this hotel or the town of Lauterbrunnen.

We would have liked to have had room with bathroom as we always do but the price of hotels in this area is so high that for once we settled for a shared bathroom. Our room was a triple even though we booked a double. It was a fantastic room with a balcony with an awesome view of the waterall having the extra large room more than compensated for the shower being upstairs and the toilet just outside te door. The cleaning regime for the bathrooms was kept up hourly? The staff were delightful and we had had a great stay dispite our low expectations on booking.

Very small room with just 2 beds space. Bathrooms were very dirty. We reached at 1pm but there was no one to let us in or keep the luggage.

We stayed 3 nights. The hotel is a 5 min walk from the train on the main road. The staff were super friendly. They only offered one key per room which made things challenging for us. There was also a foul order that wafted into the room from the bathroom a few times a day. Fortunately it didn't last but it made things unpleasant. I felt it was overpriced compared to other hotels we stayed in that were cheaper and nicer.

Great location, comfy bed. Hotel restaurant food was terrible and room could do with some new furnishings as carpets were thread bare! Had a shower which you had to hold above you with 1 hand whilst showering. Charged extra 1.5% to pay for anything by credit card at hotel but not online. I tried to explain that if I had known, I would have paid for all nights online before I arrived but they wouldn't remove the extra fee and charged me. Not happy as they don't tell you this until you arrive!!!

Quaint Setting; Spectacular View
After visiting numerous towns and villages in the Berner Oberland region, we were so pleased that we had decided to stay in Lauterbrunnen. The alpine setting was incredibly and included a 300 foot waterfall which was just down the street from the hotel. The staff at the hotel was very helpful. The room was comfortable. Everyday we took day trips around the region and went hiking. Our hotel was convenient to the train, bus and tram. We found the half fare pass to be the best value for us.

Can't beat the price
This hotel was cozy and the price was great (single room). The breakfast was great in the morning although the price is steep (19 CHF), but all the food in Lauterbrunnen is expensive. The hotel is in a great location. Just across the street is the rental shop for ski/snowboard equipment, and just outside is the bus to the Schiltorn gondola. Also, the gondola to Murren is within walking distance. The hotel staff was polite although you have to be aware to work around their schedule. They are not always at the front desk, so if you get in really late (past 11PM) there may not be anyone there. The rooms have down comforters and huge down pillows. Overall, I thought the hotel was very cute and I would stay here again!

Perfect Lauterbrunnen location
Hotel is really geared to the Winter and Summer sports clients. Rooms are basic. Bed is comfortable. Shower is great. However, they need to incorporate tea/coffee making facilities in rooms and a comfortable chair. Fantastic locatiion to base yourself in. Hotel is traditionally Swiss and is reflected in their large meals in the restaurant. Service very good. Breakfast is very Swiss and tasty. Great coffee. Receptionist was fabulous.

Centrally located.
The hotel shuts down between 10AM and 4PM. You cannot get checked in during that time. The hotel resturant closes down on Monday & Tuesday due to a lack of customers. Lunch & dinner here is beyond expensive. They do not take Amex, if you use Visa, you will pay a surcharge. Be prepaired to pay in cash to get the best deal. There is no A/C so it can get warm during the day in your room. The room does not have a frig. The staff here are very nice and helpful. There is no computer to use, but there is an internet cafe next door. A laundry mat is down the street.

Great Anniversary Get-Away
Spent four wonderful days in Lautetbrunnen.There is so much to see and do in the area. Hotel is in a good location. Room was kind of small, but comfortable. Seemed expensive, but everything in Switzerland is expensive. Very friendly hotel and restaurant staff. Would highly recommend this hotel and area. There is a quaint cafe right next to the hotel as an alternative for breakfast. Wonderful place to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

Great 4-night stay
The main receptionist is the best! She does everything from front-desk duties to helping in the restaurant. Our stay was great; the room was really nice and had a bathroom even though we had booked an "external washroom". We stayed on the 4th floor, so we had to take the stairs from the 3rd floor. At the top of the stairs, the ceiling was low and we bumped our heads a few times. The restaurant is not that great. We liked Hotel Oberland's hotel better. All the restaurants in the area are EXTREMELY expensive.

The room booked through hotels.com was a converted closet with no space even to put down your luggage. It had no bathroom and there was no bathroom to use on that floor at all. One had to squeeze past the side of the two 45 cm single beds just to reach a small window to get some fresh air. They were quick to upgrade for Frc 25 for another room where one could only walk upright in half the room, at least it had a bathroom, albeit the smallest I have had the priviledge to encounter in my 69 years. My next hotel stay through another company was far superior - maybe you guys need to check the rooms personally before advertizing them. I doubt whether I will use your service again.

Very nice hotel in Lauterbrunnen
The hotel is very clean, quiet and well maintained. We stayed one week in a room with a nice view and its own bathroom. Breakfast was fine, and the internet connection easy and worked most of the time. Dinner is available too, but we didn't eat there. We had a very pleasant experience in a beutiful Swiss location, and have no complaints regarding the hotel. A few things you might want to know: this is billed as a "typically Swiss" hotel, and features some Swiss folk music piped into the breakfast room; this may or may not be your thing and is not typical, in my experience in Switzerland. The front desk is staffed only during certain hours, but this is not a big inconvenience; just make sure your arrival time coincides with their schedule.

The location was excellent, we were able to easily walk to everything in town as well as the train and cable car stations (to get to Murren and Wengen). Beautiful view from our balcony. The hotel restaurant was good, but expensive. The shared bathrooms were very small, not super clean, and there was only one shower and two toilets (one in the room with the shower) shared between ~14 people in various rooms. Service was fair. It was apparent the goal was to make money.
