Pleasant Couple Get-a-Way in Older Home

Pleasant, older home with smaller room and bath adjacent to room. Room was clean and WiFi worked well. In town for Empire Games so did not spend much time in our room. Breakfast was continental plus homemade bread. Very adequate for the price paid.

Property and home was great. It is located on a busy main street, so there was a lot of traffic noise in the front room that we stayed in. Room itself was great and clean

We stayed in The Apartment which has its own separate entrance at the back of the Main House. Our carpark allocation was just a few strides to our apartment entrance. There are a few steps to the entry. Tbe Apartment was as advertised and filled our expectations. It is not modern, but old as part of the original home, but that was character to us, and was very clean and everything working just fine. The Apartment gave us the space and privacy we wanted. Great water pressure and enjoyed good hot showers. Breakfast was plenty satisfactory with homemade bagels, bread, butter, cream cheese, jams, fresh fruit, juice, hot drinks etc. You could sit around a communal breakfast table with other guests, but we chose the comfort and solitude of eating in the communal lounge. In warmer weather the option would be to eat outside on the porch. The owner Carol was friendly and chatted with us about her life there in Lake Placid and its history. Also gave us couple of good recommendations of what to visit in the area. The House is old so expect some creaks from other guests' movements and bring earplugs as we did if that bothers you. The location was excellent - about 15 min walk to main centre, and just 5 minutes walk opposite direction was a good corner store where we bought ready-made meals. I would recommend The Apartment for clean good value accommodation in Lake Placid.

The room has hot water heating and it was quite warm which made it difficult for sleeping. we had no control over the heat. The breakfast was cold cereal and toast, and the coffee was watery with no flavour at all. On the whole the experience was disappointing and we will not be back.

Hikers stay away!

Hikers: stay away unless you only want an uncomfortable bed and no breakfast. I spoke to a woman (who I assume is the owner) and told her that we would be leaving at 6 AM and asked if she would leave some breakfast items out for us. Nothing on the breakfast menu is prepared by the staff, so I didn't think this would be a problem. She adamantly refused to do anything before 8AM, so if you want to leave early and enjoy the beautiful Lake Placid, ADK area, plan on having to eat breakfast somewhere else.

Net gelegen buiten centrum Lake Placid. Wij verbleven in het hoofdgebouw waar je je waant in een ouderwets huis uit de jaren 30 in Amerika. Kamer is netjes en schoon. Ontbijt was basic maar voldoende voor iemand die op doorreis is. Verse koffie, fruit etc. De accommodatie beschikt over veel informatie over de omgeving

We have stayed here before and are always impressed with how clean and convenient it is. It is not fancy and rooms are small but perfect for a quick visit. Walked into town which was great too.

Spruce Lodge consists of an old house and several newer buildings. The old house where I stayed was clean but quite run down - windows didn't stay open, one wall was apparently just a board (frighteningly unsoundproof), outside stairs were very steep. But kitchen was well equipped and pleasant.

Did not stay the night. No AC in room, no dark curtains. My boys would have been up at 4am. There are also cats on the premises, sign on the door says not to let them out. I am highly allergic to cats. Nice room otherwise

Cozy place with 2 cats

This place is a beautiful cozy place in town with friendly staff. I liked everything about it, there's 2 cats that roam around the house. Be sure not to let them out. Also, note that you can't use the kitchen at night, so make sure you put whatever you need in the refrigerator before hand and keep snacks in your room if you plan to munch a bit.

This was a fun place to stay right in Lake Placid! The room was clean, quiet, and relaxing. The location is so convenient to get to anywhere in town or the trails outside of town. The staff was super helpful with any questions or services. They even helped me print a document for business that I had forgotten to print before I left.This was my second stay here and I will definitely be back!
