I write this review at 3:50am from the very room I paid for.
This motel leaves MUCH to be desired for a summer stay in Banff National Park. The staff have been the highlight. The room, to put it politely, has been modestly updated. There is no climate control and only a broken fan was provided to cool the nearly 400sqft space. The beds are shockingly cheap, and the TV was reminiscent of that which you would buy for your pre-teen child as the first for their bedroom, if they were so lucky as to have one. The shower wall was caked with soap-scum, and the toilet paper roll was nearly empty on arrival. While trains can be neat, having one pass by at 4am, 100m from your room, isn't.
The good, the bathroom is modern (despite no exhaust fan) and the tub is very deep, which makes for a nice soak, I imagine. The staff were pleasantly accommodating, especially so after accommodating my stay despite a booking failure on my end. Thw parking is ample and the proximity to both the lake and the ski hill are fantastic.
That said, the bundling is old and tired. The "spa" area reminds me of a 70's ski commercial. All could have been forgiven except for two crutial failures. First, the property charged us $850 CAD for one night in a two bed motel room on the summer. Thus is WAY over priced. The second, a total lack of reduntant systems. The propery suffered a power outtage at 230am, and there is no back up generator to supply power to the property.
You CANNOT charge this much for so littl
