This is a lovely property & the room was extra large, clean & very comfortable. The owner is lovely & didn’t blink an eye when we arrived several hrs before the official check-in. The one drawback is that it’s a little out of the way from the center but if you have a car, no problem! Would highly recommend staying here!

This is a cute boutique hotel. The staff are so lovely, friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge . However, it does need a facelift, it’s quite dated. It worked for me because I wasn’t trying to be near the touristy/Malecon area but if you are, you need a car. It’s quite a ways out and there are no restaurants nearby.

A Great Find!

We chose Hotel Alcatraz because of the comments on Hotels.com, and we were not disappointed. Our room was large, thoughtfully appointed, and very comfortable. They allowed us to leave our dogs in the room while we went to dinnerm, and they offered a great breakfast (at a cost) the next morning. I watched Maria squeeze my orange juice, and we both loved the fresh fruit and omelettes we had. Maria was attentive and willing to chat and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely return.

I have been disappointed by many hotels in Mexico, this was not one of them. It was beautifully appointed. Once you are inside the hotel it’s got a great vibe. Google maps takes you to the back of the hotel, which is not beautiful, but once you find the entranceway right across from the marina, it’s golden. The hotel is right next to the marina and I learned through walking my dogs in the neighborhood that it’s actually a very high-end neighborhood with very big well-maintained homes. It was a dog friendly spot which is important for our three dogs I don’t normally leave reviews although I booked tons of hotels through Expedia, this place just felt special and super grateful I found it. The owner was lovely too and was a wonderful hostess.

This place is darling. Not just the rooms and the furnishings but the ambiance. You feel like you're at your sister's house. The owner's dogs run loose. She, her mom and her cousin laugh together and include you in the fun. Their service is like they would treat family. It's clean and comfy; the breakfast is good, the coffee is strong and the beer is cold! I'll definitely be back when I'm in La Paz!

It's a beautiful hacienda style building in a nice neighborhood by the marina. We stayed in room #2, it was quiet and very comfortable. We had a wonderful dinner on the patio. We had Prawns in garlic sauce with salad and rice, one of the best meals we've had in La Paz. Business took us to La Paz and we had planned to travel back to Todos Santos the same day. We thought we could wait out the thunderstorms in the near by Walmart, but when it was clear they would be around for a while, we sought refuge at Hotel Alcatraz. Both the owner and her assistant were great hosts, made us feel right at home. This is our new hotel while in La Paz!!

A lovely spacious property run by a mother-daughter team with friendly dogs and cats. A large kitchen with everything you need for meals. Lots of plants and large hammocks. Very clean and comfortable. A ten min drive from the busy part of town and a 40 min drive to Balandra. Light, early sleepers may not tolerate the low hum of the main road the hotel is situated next to. Otherwise, highly recommend if you have a car.

My stay was short notice. When I arrived I was greeted with hospitality that was superb. I had been traveling for awhile and was exhausted. I am handicapped and also was accompanied by my dog. The welcoming staff helped me to my room along with my dog. The staff made sure the room was safe and accessible for me. They even walked my dog. They were very attentive the entire time of my stay. I got the rest I needed and the best welcome to La Paz I could have asked for. Maria is an angel and an excellent host.

Many of the advertised amenities are not available. Most important: no restaurant and no bar. We chose this property so that we would not have to leave in order to eat. The listing needs to be updated. Room 5 has a gigantic bathroom with a door, but an open partial wall made of cubes and no separate light for the bathroom. Very odd.
