「The hotel has the potential to be a best in class place. The infrastructure is there but staff should be better trained. There was no water from 3-5 PM in our rooms for 2 days and the person checking us in AT 3:00 should have informed us of that. Instead there is a little note on the table easily missed and we didn’t see until we tried to use the restroom in the room. 「Where do I start? This is an unbiased review from a frequent traveler to the Dominican Republic. I choose where I want to stay without the assistance of a travel agency. First off, this property sits at the top of a hill all by itself and boasts amazing, near 360 degree views of Samana town center and the surrounding port and bay/ocean. 「Balcones del Caribe is a beautiful spot with an excellent location and easy access to the beach. The complex feels very safe, and the staff were always helpful when we needed general information. My only concerns were about the condition of the village: the back door didn’t have a proper lock, the bathroom door wasn’t closing well, and the safe box wasn’t working during our stay. Overall, it’s a lovely place with great potential—just needs a bit more attention to maintenance.」
