We stayed at a machiya converted to a ryokan for 2 nights. I specifically picked a room with western style beds (vs futon on tatami). The place was exquisitely charming. The staff was extremely warm, friendly and helpful. We opted for the breakfast which was prepared carefully - we enjoyed it immensely. The location was a few blocks from the Kyoto train station but very quiet. My only suggestion is to add a bidet to our toilet - I've come to appreciate bidets since I stayed in a regular Tokyo hotel prior to Kyoto. I highly recommend this property and will stay here again next time I visit Kyoto!

I liked the location, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff. Room small but well appointed. The tatami mat could have been a bit bigger, breakfast was very basic, especially the Continental option, one slice of toast, but unlimited coffee! Still, I would go back, do some more self catering. There is a fridge in the room.

True Japanese Culture
This authentic Ryokan provided us with a true Japanese experience. It did not disappoint. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect in a quiet residential neighbourhood close to many sights and public transportation to visit sights further afield.

This property was amazing. The staff is incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely want to help. They also equip you with stuff to do and places to eat in the hood. And they called us a cab to the train station to make our lives easier. Breakfast was good as well. Would absolutely recommend to my friends.

Paid in advance. Was very expensive. Booking states all fees included but when arrived at the hot we have to pay a local fee. Not sure why Hotels.com stated that all fees where included when it wasnt. If we knew this we would not have booled this hotel.
