Absolutely loved this property. The architecture was breathtaking and grounds were meticulous. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were enormous and beautiful. They included a full kitchen, private pool and even a washing machine. The outdoor shower was a blast as well. The only small detail that would have made the property perfect was the lighting. I saw quite a few of those twirly old and cold fluorescent light bulbs. They just don't match the beauty of the rest of the property and it would be so easy to switch those out to the new warmer LED style bulbs. That being said, I can't wait to go back. It is a fair price for a gorgeous property with nice people.

Ammatara Pura is a quiet boutique hotel with beautiful, clean beach frontage. There are only 18 rooms (huge), all with a private pool. Perfect for couples and particularly honeymooners. Perhaps a little quiet for families with kids looking for other kids to play with. The shops and restaurants are only a 5 minute walk away and there sre 2 restaurants right on the beach next door. The staff were lovely and helpful, particularly Nan. We had a lovely relaxing week at the resort after a hectic holiday in France. Definitely recommended.

This is one of the most BEAUTIFUL hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The rooms were gorgeous and spacious, the staff are all wonderful and very friendly. The whole hotel is immaculately clean. Great pool and lounging areas. Amazing beachfront. Due to its location the hotel is also quiet and peaceful. I cannot give a higher recommendation. You will not be sorry for picking this place!

Not worth the high prices!
We booked this hotel based on its outstanding reviews however, it is FAR from described. You can tell the hotel was once very nice. However, the buildings are covered in mildew and chipped paint, the shower and tub in the room were not clean, and countless objects around the resort are in need of repair. The resort property is surrounded by hostels and cheap bars. A lot of unsavory tourists populate the adjacent areas accordingly. All in all, this does not feel like a 5 star resort and is not worth the money that is charged to stay here. At $200 per night it would be much closer to expectations.

Spent 6 nights in hotel at end of honeymoon. The place is spectacular. Thai style bungalows, with private pools. Rooms were huge and detail was spot on. Shared hotel facilities also great. Free tuck tuck when you needed a lift into town. Jason the manager was a perfect gentleman. Always available to help book things give advice etc. Was nice and quiet location near some nice places to eat and shop. The staff was so accommodating, granted at times there can be a bit of a language issue but their English is a LOT better than my Thai. My only complaint would be the breakfast bar. Sometimes it looks more like a 3star hotel than the 5 star. The rooms are beyond amazing and have a private pool. We stayed in the “cheap” room and my friends still are sending me emails and messages via social media asking me all about that beautiful hotel. Seriously breathtaking.❤️❤️❤️

MUST READ REVIEW!
This is the first time I'm writing a review and I'm going to be honest. Me and my wife we explore one island ever year, after maldives, phuket, Bali, Punta Cana, We chose this hotel in Koh Samui. Ammatara Villas has a mixed feeling of a hotel and a resort. If you are thinking to look through your room balcony into 2-3 different pool with a live happening beach bar with tourist, you will NOT get that here. We stayed here 4 days and we hardly saw 12 guests in 4 days. However, the rooms/villas are huge spacious comfortable with everything you need it a villa. There are 3 types of villas in this resort. We booked a Sea View Pool Villa but on expedia pictures on sea view pool are of the Beach Front Pool Villa (which is a 2 Bedroom villa right on the beach). We didn't know this until we got to the resort. Let me clear, all sea view villas ONLY have Partial View of the Sea. The staff, Jason the manager at reception has went way too extra for us to help accommodate and facilitate us during our stay, overall every staff was very helping and welcoming. I would recommend this resort only IF you want to be really really private do not want to see tourist. Beach is very nice and probably the cleanest iv ever seen. This hotel has no restaurants to eat. Lmai market is 3minutes tuktuk, nice places for Thai food, Massage, local street shopping. If u are a big family or require 2 rooms then here the Beach Front Pool Villa might just be the best option for you in Koh Samui. otherwise don't!

Incredibly Stunning Sea View.Exclusive Service.
We planned a 4 Night stay at Ammatara Pura and have to say we felt really exclusively treated. The vibe and ambiance is very serene and peaceful. Room is very large with attached large kitchen (not available everywhere in even high end hotels) well furnished with all home modern amenities like washing machine, microwave, tea and coffee maker, large refrigerator. Ideal for family with small kids like me. The breakfast menu is delicious with staff humble and servicing nature adding to the experience. They would remember each day what did we eat and not eat. I had 20 months old daughter and I requested to make fruit smoothie for her and everyday I had the smoothie ready even without asking. Have good vegetarian menu too for veggie lovers like me. Having given a large kitchen my wife was excited to cook both for fun and to avoid having outside food as she is a feeding mother. I was taken to the supermarket on their Tuk-Tuk (free of charge) and the driver was really helpful. He literally ran pillar to post to ensure that I get all the groceries I wanted without showing any signs of frustration. Absolutely recommended for people with small kids.Did I forget to mention about the room. Absolutely grand. The room is large and so is the bath tube fitted with two sets of Jacuzzi. Ideal for Couples to relax. The room opens up to three storey patio with attached Swimming pool and stunning sea view where you can see the unblocked merger of two blues..sea and sky.what a way to get up.Heaven

Traditional Thai resort on the beach
Booked this resort on previous reviews, this resort is amazing Very large villas, the private pool is excellent , staff were very attentive. Well equipped gymnasium, all the above plus the bonus of being on one of Samuis best beaches. A short walk to Lamais busy night life, but far enough for the serenity that Ammatara provides through the garden settings and traditional temple environment. The only negatives are, Outdoor shower, mould on the shower rocks, one speed ( fast ) ceiling fan directly above the bed. All the negatives are very small, but combined with a slightly dated resort and a lack of activities for the rainy days allow me to rate this resort 8.5 out of 10.

Great experience, the staff are always accommodating. We had a beautiful room with a view of the ocean. There's a took took available free of charge that brings you anywhere in Lamai. The fruits and fruit shakes were amazing. We had are own private pool and Jakuzi. At times you feel like you're the only guests at the hotel when there are more guests. Perfect place for a honeymoon!

The property is stunning with beautiful detail everywhere you look. The staff incredibly attentive and wonderful. The food was delicious. With only 18 villas on the property it always felt like our own private resort, rarely seeing any other guests even though it was at capacity. A fun lively street market and town were nice and close. Reached either by a walk or quick ride in the resorts complementary tuk tuk which would also come pick you up at any time. Everything was exceptional! I could not more highly recommend a resort!

1. Great location (not crowed, close to walking street of Lamai beach and night market, convenient for 7-11 and Family Mart. 2. The service in the hotel is awesome. All the staff are very friendly, they remembered all of our special requirement. The food and beverage service are great, from breakfast to dinner. 3. The hotel campus are quiet and beatiful, Thai Palace Styple.

Wasted potential to be one of the top hotels...
its a very nice complex and our one bedroom private Villa was HUGE with all equipment and facilites you can imagine.... there was even a computer in our room. The interior is very unique and it felt like we were staying in a temple. But we would appreciate if the service team could inspect the room before we moved in. E.g. the lights in the pool and shower, and a door were defect. This could be one of the nices Villas on the island..... if they could improve their service. The welcome was nice and warm and we felt very welcome. In case you needed something eg. extra towels, book a tour/scouter, the front desk was always fast, friendly and efficent. But the good service stopped somehow once you passed the front desk area. - We stayed for 3 nights and on one day the cleaning team arrived around 3 pm, just minutes before I wanted to ask if theres a strike ongoing.... But when they came, they did a good job. - public pool next to the beach: difficult to make a judgement about the service.... because no service...staff did never offer any drinks, because they were to busy chatting or playing there phones. - breakfast: very limited choices, and the service team gave us the impression we were not welcome and shouldn't bother them too much. I was about to apologize for ordering a tea. Overall: Very nice complex and in general well maintained. But the service beside the front desk needs big improvements.

Tranquil paradise
Staying at Ammatarapura has certainly been an unforgettable experience for my wife and I. The first thing that struck us was the breathtaking architecture and the amazing attention to detail in the hotel design. The lush greenery and beautiful landscaping added a further magical quality to the environment. As for our villa itself, we were simply awed by the spacious accommodation. The outdoor shower area and the indoor Jacuzzi were certainly very welcome, and the inclusion of a kitchen with a washing machine proved to be very practical and useful to us too. What’s more, the villa we stayed in offered stunning views of the ocean and the hotel grounds. Outside, there was also a private pool and a shaded lounge area, which altogether made the villa seem really huge. Service-wise, the staff were attentive and warm, willing to go the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. As for the food, even though cheaper alternatives could be found elsewhere, we still found the price of the dishes reasonable considering their quality. Furthermore, we often found ourselves dining in due to the convenience and the peaceful al-fresco dining area right next to the beach. As for breakfast, the variety on offer was adequate, and the ala carte dishes we could choose from were all generally delicious. The location of the hotel is another plus point – away from all the hustle and bustle, but still near enough to shops, restaurants, and most importantly the beach!

Palace fit for royalty, with mediocre service
Great hardware and average software! We had 1 (of the 2) beach front villa with 2 bedrooms for 6 days; immaculate rooms, detailed finishing like that of a temple or palace, all the modern facilities (desktop, sound system, LED TV, high end kitchen equipment and cutlery, jacuzzi) which looks new, private pool is a bit small vs other villas I've stayed at, but it's fine (5m x 3m). Service was very average, many of the staff at breakfast or at the front desk cannot speak english, so we have to try look for the supervisor all the time - this resulted in getting requests (breakfast/reservations/bookings) being done wrong. Silly policies where they charge guests 20 baht to make a phone call to make a reservation outside (spa or restaurant) or book a taxi (when the rate of over 20,000 baht a night doesn't cover this?!) My sister naively gave them cash and did not collect a receipt, so not sure where the cash really went? Overall I would not return for the rate paid for the service received - I would much rather go to the Banyan Tree, Four Seasons or the W for a less grand room (yet great) and service which meets expectations

One of the best hotels I have stayed in!!
As someone who has stayed in quite a few resorts and hotels I can say that very few reach the standards of service, cleanliness and quality of Ammatara Pura. It is an oasis of beauty and tranquillity right on the beach front and a stones throw from Lamai main street. We stayed in a beachside room, which was massive with our own private pool. The finishing detail of the whole property and inside the rooms are fantastic. Across the board from check in to check out all the staff were extremely efficient, friendly and couldn't have done more for myself and my girlfriend. The location is right by the main street but once inside the property with its unique design, palm trees and seclusion you really would have no idea The only negative for me was getting to the main street considering the hotel is practically on it. The easiest way is to walk on to the beach and cut back in through one of the other hotels, otherwise you have to walk up a particularly steep hill and down the other side (but it is hardly a deal breaker). Early December the hotel was quiet and lacked a bit of atmosphere but with the main street with lots of bars and restaurants close by it is not really a problem. I got my flight times mixed up and had it not been for quick action and organisation by staff I would have missed it. This is by far the best hotel on the beach. There are some other nice hotels in Lamai but none are close to the main street. If I am back in Samui again I will definitely be staying here

It's not even fair to call this place a hotel, it is far more than that. Ammatarra Pura is amazing, it's the perfect location, near to shops and restaurants (but no noise) and also close to the sea. It could not have been better, we will definitely be returning...and may be bringing some friends so we can show off this jewel. The staff were very attentive, an army of them dropped in everyday to polish the window and make everything look brand new! Food was good, swimming pool was extravagant, but well used by us, and the overall feel to the place was very special...I still can't think how we can top it, if we go somewhere else, no joke!

Idyllic hotel, brilliant for families and couples
The Ammatara Pura Pool Villas is absolutely beautiful, and a brilliant place to stay. We would primarily recommend it to families with young children, honeymooners, romantic couples and people who want a quiet, relaxing stay in attractive surroundings. Each of the rooms has an extensive list of facilities, including a well appointed kitchen with an electric cooking hob, microwave, washing machine, fridge with freezer compartment (partly stocked with 'mini-bar' type contents, plus plates and cutlery for two and kitchen utensils, bottle opener, cooking knives, spatulas etc BIG bath with Jacuzzi function, separate shower, writing desk complete with a desktop PC with internet access, wi-fi, dining table for two, LCD TV complete with a DVD player with USB connection
