"Yes the property is very dog friendly which we love and the staff are extremely attentive and welcoming the bar has plenty to offer drinks wise and the food and menu are literally out of this world."

"I don’t recommend this hotel at all. The building is run down and shabby. The changing rooms for the so called spa are dreadful. The male change is basically a walk in toilet with lockers. The rolls in the morning were stale and staff passive aggressive as we were a few mins early. We are really dissatisfied and disappointed here. The shower seals in our room were black with mould and disgusting. It has a steam room. No sauna. The gym only had cardio equipment, no weights at all. Overall it wasn’t a great place to be and not what it’s advertised to be "

"Good choice at breakfast. Room spotless, toilet recenly upgraded to a high standard. Ample parking. Great hotel, just wish it wasnt up a hill "

"Overall this hotel was probably our most disappointing stay on our 5-day tour of Scotland. Whilst the main building and surroundings looked really nice, it did not make up for the disappointment of having to stay in one of the lodges round the side/back. In our lodge, the floor creaked so badly and loudly that we resorted to not moving too much when in the room. If I had known about the 'motel' lodges then I would have booked elsewhere. The staff, on the whole, were professional enough but always seemed too busy and somewhat 'distant'. At no point did we feel 'welcome', not because the staff were unfriendly but rather mostly too busy to deal with us. The only saving grace was that the quality and standard of food was exceptional. As a foodie, I can honestly say that every element was exceptional. It's not a 'cheap' eat but the quality makes it worth every penny. Kudos goes to the kitchen and restaurant staff. Would I choose to stay again? NO. Would I choose to dine here? ABSOLUTELY."

"The room was clean as although dated. We intended to have evening meal but when we sat in the bar/restaurant area for 10 minutes, we observed utter chaos with no leadership of staff. The Bar person was uninterested with no urgency. The bar was full of unwashed empty glasses. No way to run a bar. We left and ate elsewhere. We would not recommend this hotel."

"Two of the facilities were closed .resistance pool and hot tub No prior warning of this Plumbing was noisy letting water runaway in the bathroom sink resulted n some very loud gurgling. Breakfast staff seemed inexperienced We had to request toast then jam neither was offered. We felt this should have arrived with the hot drinks drinks or at least offered Bathroom worn Eg cistern button had a missing piece Shelf under sink marked Bath panel is needing replaced Bathroom door was chipped The bedroom floor was uneven which can be expected for an older property however there was a distinct hole/depression around the foot of the bed which could be a trip hazard. A car alarm went off several times in the night and again at 6 am. I feel the staff should have located the owner and asked them to address the issue ie disable the alarm The car was directly under our window. We requested a latte at breakfast this was an extra charge and was brought by the breakfast waiter and yet there was a small service charge for this. I felt this was little bit miserly. I could have asked for the charge to be removed but i just left it on the bill These things did not spoil our trip we just felt they should not occur in a 5star hotel. The room was clean and tidy and warm The bed was very comfortable. The location is amazing the ambience was very good just let down by these few things We will return next year due to a booking error on my part hopefully things will be addressed."

"We had a junior suite overlooking the river which was nice enough, we thought the bathroom required an update. No towel heating rail, no underfloor heating so it was cold. Perhaps we were spoiled the year before as we stayed in The Hermitage suite which was superb, far preferred it however I expect more expensive. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed the swimming pool. The breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was good, however I think there could have been more choices in the main meals menu."
