Venture through hilly highlands on a mountain bike and ski from snowcapped peaks looming over this quaint village known for waterfalls.

The surrounding trails and waterways make the area an attractive base for exploration. It was the home of the notorious MacNab Clan, who played a role in the Jacobite Risings. Nearby is the Killin Water Mill, a three-story building from 1840. Inside the mill, peruse the arts and crafts shop for intriguing trinkets.

Many activities center on Loch Tay, which is more than 14 miles (23 kilometers) long. Rent boats and equipment from the Killin Outdoor Centre and Mountain Shop. Fish for salmon or paddle a kayak on the loch. Mountain bikes are also available. Cycle the lake’s perimeter to see it from varying angles.

The hotel, restaurant and coffee shop were bustling with New Year revellers. The hotel accommodation is rustic. Rooms are bit too small for the size of the beds - no space for luggage. Plenty of options for a pint or a bite to eat, either in the hotel itself or in the village. Great spot for scenic ...

Prefect setting by the banks of Loch Tay in the idyllic village of Kenmore. The pool was a hit with our daughter. We didn’t get to eat in the on-site restaurant as it was closed but it looked nice.
