Great location. Suites were huge! Didn’t really have an outdoor seating area which was a bummer for us. Older hotel but kept up nicely. Breakfast was not great but I’m noticing most hotels these days don’t have good breakfast.

Property was a rustic feeling like old fashioned motel. Staff was polite and clean rooms, beds were clean but mattresses not most restful after a long active day in black hills area. Hotel overall has had some visible upgrades while keeping its rustic charm but room we stayed in didn’t have upgrades. We had shower with faucet difficulties and not screen in window that could open if wanted but it had not screen . Bathrooms Need upgrade(our bathroom tube specifically was hard to work shower-maintenance issue). New mattresses and a floor that is not carpet(wood laminate is better) would make it feel fresh and allow for longer life. Over all we had a wonderful trip and room served its purpose of a place to sleep between activities and its location was perfect and close to where we wanted to be. It’s a good property just not going to be for anyone looking for luxury or high end feeling.

My husband and I stayed here a couple of nights on vacation. The location is great, close to Mt. Rushmore and the highways to Custer State Park and many other black hills locations. Room was really clean and spacious. We had a jetted tub in our room, so didn’t use the pool or hotel hot tub, but the area looked really nice. The breakfast was good. We would definitely stay there again.

Location was good. Felt a bit got by the photos as the rooms were very outdated compared to the photos online. The inside of the hotel was beautiful, however we weren’t actually staying in that area… which was not disclosed to us until we got there. The pool was very pretty.

Hotel is very old and has high traffic of tourists but is decently clean for a very old property. The swimming area is very nice but has no ventilation so it is very hot and humid. The staff when we first checked in were nice. But the staff any other time they were either not present, off hanging out in the breakfast room. The a/c only worked for the bedroom so the rest of the suite was uncomfortably warm until about 2 am when it cooled off. There was little to no hot water to take a shower. It was cold when I took a shower at 1030pm and it was cold at 7 am when my wife took her shower. The family suite is large and there is lots of space. The wet bar is nice. The furniture is old and outdated and the decorator must have been color blind. That doesn’t matter as much since it’s a hotel and it’s not like you are trying to buy it. But a a lot could be done with the rooms. The size of them is really impressive but then your eyes focus on the clashing wallpaper, carpet, and furniture patterns. The indoor heated pool and hot tub was not heated and the chemicals were way off and there was a disgusting froth in the hot tub so no one was really monitoring or making sure the pool was taken care of what was open. I was there till 10 o’clock when it closed, and when the maintenance guy came in to put in the chemical test strip, the chemicals were way off the chart with the number of people they had there they should’ve been checking the pool more. All Hotel Stafford, pretty unattainable to taking care of the things that need to be taken care of in the hotel. They were more interested in hanging out in the breakfast room. Then actually taking care of guest.

Hotel was very clean, comfortable, quiet, and close to restaurants and stores, you can easily walk to the little downtown area. Very friendly staff. Loved the location, about 45 minutes to Custer State Park, and about an hour from Badlands.
