I loved staying in a property that was so old and yet had been made so comfortable. It was a shame that one of the curtains had broken hooks as it drew the eye but the view from our windows more than made up for it. The evening meals were delicious. Location was perfect for us being equidistant to Grasmere and Keswick. Maybe some sachets of decaf coffee?

We stayed in the family room for the weekend. The room was very clean and spacious, with a brilliant view of the lake. The hotel is only a stone's throw away from Hellvelyn which is where we intended to visit, which was very convenient. With the delicious breakfast it was very good value. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as well.

Location amazing - quiet, no noise from main road, great view of lake and direct access to the lovely 10 mile path all around the lake. Beds in our twin room were nice and comfy. Lovely staff. Nice breakfast. Only negative is that the hotel really needs a bit of a refurb/modernisation, but for the price it's still great value. Highly recommended
