"The term Luxury cottage is an insult. The pictures are very misleading.This place is so run down. The staff you can tell is trying hard but obviously the owner cares nothing about customer service or being honest. Our "Luxury cottage" had no microwave, no satellite TV and the kitchen and living room were exposed to heat as there are no windows only loose screening that let lots of bugs in. The couch and beds sit on concrete reminiscent of city jail. I realize this property is in the tropics but...

Voyager Beach Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Excellent and well-maintained facility, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful setting, breakfast and dinner buffets were plentiful, diverse, and delicious. It's worth wandering through the expansive property- we kept discovering delightful little areas and lounges to enjoy. We had a ground-floor ocean view room near the infinity pool - highly recommended. Air-conditioning in our room was very nice in hot Mombasa weather. The only improvement would be having more information on the many optional activities available before arriving - we booked a snorkeling & coral reef tour with an operator, not knowing that was something we could have arranged through Voyager. Also, we got conflicting info on cost for airport pickup. We didn't get a reply to our message, so we finally called the hotel directly - not always an option for international travelers. It all worked out, but the process could have been clearer and simpler. Overall, an excellent resort experience. We would definitely return."

"A lovely, elegant and well maintained hotel with the friendliest and most helpful staff. My stay was all about relaxing after a trek and it ticked all the boxes for comfort and convenience. The restaurant food was delicious, the beer cold and the evening entertainment top-notch. Would definitely recommend this place."

"We had a great stay at Whitesands! I have been many times and it never disappoints. Great to see the upgrades to the hotel. The room was very comfortable, the amenities were fantastic, and the food was great as always. The kids loved the kids club and all the staff were so attentive to them - definitely a great place for kids. We will be back!"

Leopard Beach Resort & Spa

"Staff were exceptional and the villa was really spacious with a lovely pool. Food was OK, not as good as some other resorts of the same star rating. Lots of BBQ options and theme nights. We were AI and had breakfast at the small restaurant in the villa area, which was lovely. Lunch was better at the pool bar - suited our family needs with chips, burgers and pizzas. The villa had a few things that needed fixed and we had to ask for the fridges to be topped up. At dinner it was often a bit chaotic and they ran out of plates or cups. Or tables weren’t set. Little touches that stop it being the level expected from a 5 star resort. The entertainment team was good, with karaoke, acrobats and dancers as part of the evening offering. The main pool was good fun and not too busy. There were plenty sun loungers in the shade at the beach with access to the pool. As a single mum with 3 kids I was frequently asked where my husband was, which didn’t happen in Nairobi or the Masai Mara. The hawkers on the beach were obtrusive and we struggled with getting rid of them. There are organised beach activities with the entertainment team and it would be better to go on them rather than brave the beach yourself if you’re a single woman."

Jacaranda Indian Ocean Beach Resort

"Enjoyed my time at Jacaranda. There is a great amount of beach front with lots of seating. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and spacious. The only negative was the WiFi was spotty in lots of places but this gave me a chance to disconnect. Would highly recommend this resort!"
