The best part of this property is its central location and walkability to the Night Market and other areas in downtown Keelung. The second best part is the staff friendliness - they are eager to please with a smile. The third best aspect of this hotel is its price - very affordable. I would stay here again.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in our stay. Firstly, staff was very nice and location was excellent. The negatives are that the hotel and the rooms are very dated, with clear wear around the room. The room and hotel were clean but certainly didnt feel fresh. My biggest issue is with the visitors of the hotel. My family of four, which included 2 small children were awakened at 330a to the sounds of two individuals having very loud intercourse next door. The walls are paper thin and every noise, movement, etc. was heard. I was kept awake and felt very disgusted. This hotel apparently books hourly or partial day, which explains our late night neighbors' shortened stay. I was very upset upon relaizing we were put in the first room closest to the stairs and on the first room floor. Families should be kept separate from potential hourly visitors as it is truly a too easy way to leave a bad taste.

Hotel was in a good location . 3 mins from the night market. Hotel breakfast was good as well. The overall condition of the room was that it's really old. Even though it's a non smoking hotel, the room reeked of a cigarette smell.

my mother and I enjoy staying at this hotel for 2 nights. It is located near the Keelung Tempte Night Market and Ren-ai Morning Market. very convenient to walk there and enjoy lots of local food. will stay at this hotel when we are back in Keelung. It is a gem

dated but clean
Rather dated but nice and clean, really good night market, No tourist rip offs. Staff friendly English limited but hand signals we got through it. Breakfast was totally local food, nice. Free and safe parking a bonus.

this hotel is really old, built before 1990's i believe, so everything is quite old but still clean, also did not enjoy the breakfast offered

I got a good experience in Keelung because I can visit the places near by in a day trip, such as; Yehliu, Gold museum, Jiufen, and Riufang.

Located near miaokou night market. Bed was abit hard and there's a small gap between the door and floor so we could hear other travelers talking when they were leaving in the middle of the night.

Hotel is located in a side lane of the road. Took us much effort to locate it. The journey from the train station to the hotel wasn't easy due to all the steps and stairs. Not recommended if you have large luggages.

Oneof the front of house staff told me, when I asked about bars to have a drink at, that there weren't any as Kelung was "not that type of city" ! Never come across a port without bars before: but anyroad, he was wrong!

Up an alley
Keelung is a very busy city with horrendous traffic. Even though we had the instructions from the website for finding this hotel it took us an hour of walking and driving to find it. It is down an alley off the Ai3 road and really you have to be on foot to locat it as you will drive past it easily. The staff were very friendly. The bed was a bit hard and even after running the water for quite a while, I failed to get it hot. The breakfast was not European but traditional Chinese style with boiled rice and dumplings. There was hot coffee available which was very pleasant. Overall I think that if I revisited Keelung I would stay in a hotel that was on a Main Street and easy to find or perhaps stay in a different less congested city.

The hotel is very convenient location. Near to famous night market (2 minutes walk). Also near to Railway station (10 minutes walk). However, buffet breakfast is always same and some dish are not warm enough. Room is rather cold, but with duvet, it's OK. Good value for money

Great location but dated room
The hotel is located in a small lane 12-15 minutes walking distance away from Keelung railway station. Took a cab to the hotel as it was raining and the cab driver asked for 100 NT. For other cab trips I took in Keelung, the cab driver just based on the meter fare. There's a morning market nearby the hotel where hawkers sell their fresh produce from fruits to meat and fresh seafood. There's also cooked food stalls at the 2nd level of the market. The night market is just a stone throw away from the hotel just opposite the road and the food there were among the best in Taipei night markets. Back to the hotel, the staff were very friendly and local breakfast consist of rice, porridge with condiments was provided till 11 am. The room was small and very dated, should be more than 30 years with a LCD TV. There was no fridge or safe and the central air con can be controlled by adjusting the amount of air flow manually. The room was clean but the bath towels need to be replace with new ones, the clean towels in the room seems to be more than 15 years. I like the bed as it was really hard (almost like sleeping on the floor but with slight contour at the bum) and you can feel the pocketed spring, but it will not be suitable for guest who prefer soft comfy bed. The hotel is good for a short stop over trip in Keelung for the night market and surrounding attractions, but not for longer stay. I will explore other hotel if the price is comparable with free wifi and breakfast.

It was a very bad experience in hotel imperial keelung. The toilet was very dirty and many hair on the floor. And the hotel smell its was really bad. Look very old.

the condition of the hotel is below average, although we requested for a smoke free rooms, there's still smoke smell inside the room. The hotel use center air-con system which you can't control the temperature by urself, poor ventilation as well. The bedsheets, curtains are all old fashion, I guess they use it for years. It's not near to the train station, if you have heavy luggage, don't think you can go to the hotel by walking. We took taxi instead. This hotel near Keelung night market, you can reach in 2mins by walking. Overall, I don't think it's worth the price, I know I can get a better one with same price. Luckily we stay only 1 night. Not staying here if I'm coming back.

Great location if you want to be by main Keelung night market, and streets where the Ghost Festival parades run through. 10-15 min walk from train station. Breakfast is Chinese and blah (compared to other places that offered Chinese breakfasts). Halls of hotel are smokey and room can be at times. Windows faced neighboring wall that was within arms length- so in effect there were none. No one bothers to sweep tile floor underneath bed. Not very knowledgable about local public transportation options but did try to make a call for us to find out more details. Okay option for price

No complaints. Very cultural. And I prefer cultural. I've stayed in dozens of places in Taiwan. This one is somewhat more expensive than some of the same quality and caliber. Be ready for very cultural breakfast items; however, on my second visit, I was surprised to be presented a specially prepared fried egg. A German couple received the same gesture. Apparently someone knew westerners eat them for breakfast, as there were none on the breakfast bar. Halved boiled (very salty) tea eggs, though, were available. The hotel is a bit difficult to find; even my Taiwanese friends in Keelung had to look hard to find it located deep down one of the typically obscure alleys off one of the main streets. For westerners, the non-wet bathroom is a plus. There is an enclosed shower. Though hidden down an alley, you can easily walk down to the street and find anything you need for shopping and eating. The night market is adjacent. Using Expedia, my first experience, seemed to be a big advantage: easy check in, and easy check out.

Value for money hotel
Hotel location is good but not easy to find if you are driving. Parking also a challenge as we have to drive through narrow alley, especially come evening time there are many motorbike parked along the alley. Hotel looks old but room condition acceptable. Walking distance to famous night market and harbour. Hotel breakfast taste great. Vicinity has many shops. Many TV programme channel. If you are just looking for a short night stay and not looking for extreme comfort, this hotel is acceptable.

I found the Imperial a well-priced hotel in the center of Keelung which is directly opposite from the night markets and only a minute or so walking time from the port and bus station.
