Lovely historic hotel about an hour's drive from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Comfortable, clean room. Delicious homemade breakfast with fresh-squeezed orange juice and coffee.

The Julian Hotel is our favorite. The old-time charm, the staff and the breakfast are all wonderful. The hotels location is prefect for exploring the town. We love staying in Julian.

By my own mistake, I booked the wrong night. The hotel staff was incredibly kind to let me still check in on the night I was in town. It saved the vacation! The accommodations were so quaint, the room was adorable. the breakfast was phenomenal. Having the parlor open for games in the evening made for a perfect stay.

We went to Julian for my wife's birthday. We mad the reservations the night before, and were glad they had rooms available. It is a beautiful, rustic hotel. It is VERY clean. The service is wonderful. The breakfast was great as well. We have stayed here many times over the years, and ALWAYS enjoy our stay.

This was the greatest solo overnight experience. The hotel is so cute and I felt very taken care of, from check-in to check out. The room was so cozy - I slept 11 hours!! Breakfast was delish and it was so easy to walk to all the shops along main street. Street parking was very easy to find. Thank you so much!!

If you want a break from technology and love the good old days, this is the place for you. Friendly, clean, quiet. A place to truly relax your mind and also enjoy the convenience of just stepping out the door and being in Main Street already. Great place for couples without children. Loved the experience.

There was just a genuine warmth about this place. I'm from San Diego but this was my very first time in Julian. Like I said, there was a loving warmth about this hotel. Even the breakfast in the morning. The personnel was so communicative and accommodating. I will definitely return soon

For history buffs
If you want to step back in gold mining history, Julian & its Julian Gold Rush Hotel should be on your list of places to stay. This is a beautifully decorated bed & breakfast in that period. Having said that, note that rooms are very small; no tvs or wifi in ours. Entertainment is provided by many books & games, allowing guests time to connect with others. Breakfast was vegetarian, with fresh fruits & local Dudley bread. You can walk to most of Julian's shops & restaurants from here. No parking lot, just on-street parking which is probably difficult with a large vehicle. Bedrooms are on 2nd floor with no handicapped access, just stairs. Lovely hotel with pretty patios & pine trees. We enjoyed staying in this historical building.

A Trip Back In Time
This is our second time staying at the Julian Gold Rush Hotel. It definitely has the feel of going back in time. The rooms are simple (no TV, one chair), cutely decorated. The lobby and dining room are so homey, with a great breakfast served, lovely decor, games and coffee, cider, tea & lemonade served in the afternoon. We love the front porch with chairs overlooking Main St. Staff is very friendly.

Historic building nicely maintained. Friendly staff and located on main street in Julian. Not handicap friendly. Narrow stairways, no elevator and tiny rooms. Truly interesting facility that is an example of how hotels were at the time of the California gold rush. I would recommend it as a great history lesson

Everything was excellent from check-in to check-out. The staff were truly friendly and helpful. The hotel has a very interesting history going back to the 1870's. Naturally that means the hotel room are small as nearly all hotel rooms back then.

Charming B&B right in center of town. Things quiet down at night - very quickly. Breakfast was excellent. Worth at least $25 extra a night. The hostess gave great tips on local hiking and attractions. Think I’d stay on the 2nd floor next time

Great BnB!
Checked in on 9/23 and had great service. The woman told us about games in the parlor which we took advantage of. She also told us about morning coffee and offered to hold any food in the fridge for leftovers from dinner. Loved staying here! Very cute quiet and quaint!

We absolutely love this historical hotel. The decor and ambience makes one feel like we're back in the 1800's, but with modern bathrooms. Lol. We enjoyed a drink on the veranda, walked to dinner, then played table games in the parlor, with complementary tea, coffee and lemonade, and mingled with the other guests. Our room felt like we were staying in someone's home. Looking forward to breakfast! I think we will visit again!
