For starters, we had a good stay at the hotel. Like others mention, it's in an extremely convenient location as you can go right to the train platforms from the side entrance to the station in just a minute or two. The staff are great, the breakfast is amazing, and the room itself was good. The service is above and beyond and I can only say great things about everything and everyone we interacted with.
Some critical feedback, on the lack of AC.
It's true that Switzerland makes it difficult to impossible to add AC to historic buildings. However, at least during our stay, the lack of AC made things tricky as it was so hot (80F) that we had to open the windows. Normally this would be just fine, but most of them were set up to only open a few inches, I assume for safety reasons. Then the problem was that the hotel is right by the train tracks so every 20 to 30 minutes you'd hear the screeching sound of a train going by. All in all for a hotel of this caliber, the lack of AC or even good air circulation was tough. I don't doubt that it would be extremely difficult to add AC to this gorgeous building so hopefully it's not an issue for most people, but it would be important to know ahead of time. We were so tired every day from our hiking that we slept just fine. The saving grace was the fan that was in the closet!
