Great place to stay!
The stay was wonderful. The customer service is spectacular and a lot of people spoke english. Their hot springs are immaculate and provide you with a spa like experience. Although they don’t sand springs at the property they provide shuttle that take you there and back. The pillows are a bit uncomfortable and the store doesn’t really have any heatable food. We had to walk to the nearest convenience store which was about a 10 minute walk.

Ibusiki Royal Hotel Stay
We loved the views and customer service! However, we were not told that we needed to make reservations for dinner at least 24hours prior to arrival. We had to go somewhere else to have dinner. We couldn't use the pool because they told us that is was only for summer time, but we were there in May, and it was already hot, and the weather was perfect for a splash in the pool.

This place was way better than expected! The public onsen was nice and the english speaking staff made such a difference! They were very friendly and the views were amazing. We didnt use the shuttle service but we wish we had because parking was tough. So I recommend to take advantage of there free shuttle! Also the beach is so beautiful right next to the hotel.

Japanese resort hotel with a tiny western service
The hotel has a very good location at the beach. The hotel is an 80's building. The room was very clean. There is just one elevator, which leads to long waiting time. The outside pool is very good for kids but as it is very shallow no swimming options for adults. The hotel onsen is okay. The city is a 10 minute drive away. The nearest combini - Lawson - is a 3 minute drive away. The hotel offers breakfast and dinner option - Japanese food. Currently, the hotel has no bar to have a cocktail or wine in the evening. There is no ice cube service machine, they have to be purchased at the front desk which is very usual for this high price level hotel. Breakfast is Japanese buffet style - almost no western breakfast food options. No toast nor butter was available. In generell is to say a good hotel in an very good location and if you are Japanese and just like staying in a hotel - it is very good. If you are an active foreigner who wants a mix between Japanese and western style there are maybe better price option accommodations nearby. There is still a big area for improvements to attract western customers. Foreign employees were able to speak English but always started to speak Japanese first.

They forgot to set up the Futons in room. There were no staff after 8 pm. Two security guard were placed on reception counter instead. When I called for help about setting up the futons they said, ‘no English.... ah... sorry.’

Beautiful spa hotel
Beautiful spa hotel with amazing sea views from the glass walled lobby. Only dropped a point on service because we weren't told about bikes available for guests to use which would have been ideal for our day out, and also there was no information that dinner reservations had to be made by 6pm. When I asked at 6.15pm, I was told we could not be accommodated but the clerk suggested a supermarket only 10 minutes walk away and we made a lovely picnic to eat in the room. No bar but free coffee in the lobby and lanterns to take down to the beach at night. Highly recommend taking the free shuttle bus into town to visit the sand baths and excellent onsen attached, and delighted to make use of the hotel onsen morning and night. A lovely, relaxing couple of days by the sea.

The hotel is a traditional Japanese style onsen but located on a hillside next to the ocean. It's peaceful and quiet. Staff are nice and pleasant!

I wish I could stay longer in this hotel.
I stayed only one night. The price is a bit high but my family and I really liked this hotel. The ocean view is great. The onsen is great. The breakfast is impressive as well.

Both dinner and breakfast were very good, and featured local cuisine that we probably would not have seen otherwise. Onsen was also good, with ocean view from the outside bath. Free shuttle bus to the nearby hot sand beach is convenient.

Nice sea views!
Amazing sea views from our room. The room was very large and spacious. Costs 1000 yen to take a taxi from the JR station to the hotel. Stay for the sand onsen and hot spring, nothing else to do here otherwise.

Very Friendly Service
This hotel has excellent service. The staff is so helpful and kind. I recommend you stay here when you come to Ibusuki. They have a free shuttle schedule to the Sunamushi (sand bath).

Rude manager!
The lady manger was rude when we checked in. There are noises from the trains passing by. There is no private beach. The location is not for those without a private car. First timers visiting Ibusuki should skip this hotel. There is better choice!

This is a charming and slightly shabby beach hotel. My “single” room was spacious with a Japanese room area with a low table and cushions. I could have chosen to sleep on a futon on the tatami mat instead of the western bed (which was typical Japanese firm with firm pillow). There are little balconies. There was a slight musty smell to the room so I was glad the weather was fine for opening the balcony doors. You can control the velocity of the air from the hotel’s climate control but not the temperature. The toilet did not always flush all the way. There is a fridge and a tea set in the room. Coffee is in the lobby. The decor is lovely, the staff helpful. They had their designated English speaker whose skill was adequate for basic interactions. I did not get the meal plan so don’t know about the food. There was no water in the pool. The beach is easily accessible. They run a free shuttle to the sand bath in the afternoons. Highly recommended! You buy your sand bath ticket at the hotel. It is the same price as buying at at the bath. I did not check out the hotel’s onsen because the sand bath was so divine. There is also a Yoga room at the hotel with occasional classes (1700 yen I think). I also really liked their souvenir shop. They give you A discount coupon when you check in. I noticed the prices were the same as at other shops for some of the items I bought. The hotel would have been about a 30 minute walk from the JR station and restaurant. Taxi about 900 yen.

Rooms in serious need of renovation
Hotel in need of renovation. Our room smelt fairly bad. The bed and bathroom were clean but old carpet, curtains, etc made everything smell bad. The toilet was badly situated so you had to squeeze in and out of the room. The breakfast buffet was okay. Not much in the local area but only a short distance to shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The lobby and its view were the best part of the hotel.

Whilst in Ibusuki we visited Saraku Sand Baths X 2, great experience, 1st was under cover as was raining, 2nd was outside and the sand felt much hotter.  Healthy lands- salt & hot springs, sand baths  Lake Ikeda  Samurai village  Lookout point - Cape Nagasakibana 

Superb position with sweeping sea views. The Onsen was good and outside spa area with sea views. Staff friendly but a little slow in providing some extra pillows. The property is time warped in the 80s and needs a major upgrade. However, the location tends to compensate and the price was reasonable. Luckily we had a car hire are there are no restaurants or shops near the hotel.

Bugs are everywhere
The number of bugs crawling everywhere in the room are a bit unexpected. No bugs repellent or anything to get rid of them. Definitely need a car because the location is remotely far.

The hotel location is beautiful, and the first thing you see when you enter the hotel is the great ocean view. So after the check-in, the view from our room was quite disappointing as we didn't book a room with the ocean view. We recommend to stay in a room with the ocean view. Breakfast buffet had good selections, and the staff were very nice. The souvenir shop had large selections, and some items were priced better than other shops we saw in the area. The hotel is quite old and seems to be missing unique features which make us want to go back. But maybe it is because we were there in a quiet season and may be different in a summer time when you can enjoy the pool and the beach, etc.

Very pleasant stay thanks to the staff they were very nice and really tried there best to answer our numerous questions .the hotel has electric assist bicycles for rent 500yen per 2 hours and the roads to mt kaimon are perfect for riding on .the views from our ocean view room was amazing .overall an older hotel but excellent location clean and amazing staff.only downside is wifi in lobby only.
